Barrel Placement: At the curb, please leave a two-foot gap between your barrels so the automatic arm can grab the barrel. Barrels should never be placed in the road.
Over the course of the season at Ski Sundown, you may notice folks in red coats with a white cross on their backs around the hill. These are members of the Sundown Ski Patrol, an entirely volunteer team dedicated to maintaining guests’ safety.
In 2018 it had been 25 years since the Town of Granby updated its police/fire/ambulance communication system. The dispatch console was 24 years old; the radio equipment was 20-30 years old. Parts were no longer available, so repair was not possible. The two-tower radio system installed in 2000 barely covered 50 percent of the town.
The Third Annual Granby Puzzle Slam attracted a record high 256 competitors on Saturday, Jan. 31 at Granby Memorial Middle School, 100 more contestants than assembled at the first year of the Drummer’s only recurring fundraising event.
Each year, Terry Spak hosts friends and family at the Puzzle Slam. This year, she offered to move her group of 64 puzzlers to the cafeteria so that additional teams could compete in the gym.
While the Drummer continues to be embraced by the town, communal puzzling can be a support to the residents, as well.
