Taking care of your pet’s teeth

February is National Pet Health Dental Month, which helps raise awareness that the number one health issue in our pets is periodontal disease. According to the American Veterinary Dental Society, 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats will develop dental disease by the age of three.

The skinny on bobcats in Connecticut

Ginny Apple, a Master Wildlife Conservationist and volunteer for the department of environmental protection, presented a very interesting program on bobcats in Connecticut at the Jan. 8 Women’s Breakfast held at the Senior Center.

Pet food drive another success

Salmon Brook Veterinary Hospital’s seventh annual pet food drive was a huge success. Thanks to community generosity, it collected 2,859.7 lbs. of dry cat and dog food along with 2,323 cans.

Music series presents fiddler-songwriter Feb. 8

Based out of Brooklyn, N.Y,, Andrea Asprelli is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter. She has released two albums of original music as the front woman and songwriter for Cricket Tell the Weather, alumni winners of the FreshGrass Award.
