GLT Earth Day Roadside Cleanup

It’s that time of year again. In what has become a Granby tradition, the Granby Land Trust will take part in the Great Global Cleanup® over Earth Day Weekend, April 23–26. This worldwide campaign removes billions of pieces of trash from neighborhoods, beaches, rivers, lakes, trails and parks—reducing waste and plastic pollution, improving habitats and preventing harm to wildlife and people.

Ephemeral Wildflower Walk

On Wednesday, April 29, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., the Granby Land Trust will host a Spring Ephemeral Wildflower Walk on the GLT’s Katan-Ensor Preserve. The forest floor awakens at this time of year with vibrant colors and delicate blooms.

Eighteen hardy souls braved 18-degree weather to enjoy the 18th Annual GLT New Year’s Day Hike at the snowy and beautiful Mary Edwards Mountain Property in North Granby. A big thank you to Hike Leader Fran Armentano, who has made this a special way to start the New Year for so many years!

Land Trust hikers view recently installed beaver deceiver

Oct. 26 was a sunny warm day—perfect for the Granby Land Trust’s Dave Emery to take a group of 20 hikers on a walk that highlighted the beaver deceiver installed at the Dismal Brook Wildlife Sanctuary. A very industrious group of beavers had constructed a dam under the footbridge, effectively raising the water level on one side of the Dismal Brook and lowering it on the other side of the bridge.
