“Mary’s Kitty Korner,” a no-kill cat shelter, is looking for volunteers to help care for kitties until they find their “fur-ever” homes. If you love cats and have some time to spare on a weekday morning or evening or on a weekend morning or afternoon Mary’s would love to hear from you.

Simsbury Bank is Gran-Bee sponsor and will field trivia team

Simsbury Bank is pleased to announce that it is a $1,000 Swarm Sponsor of the Granby Education Foundation’s 15th annual Gran-Bee event. The Gran-Bee is the foundation’s annual fund raising trivia contest that will be held this year on Friday, April 27, at 6:30 p.m. at the Granby Memorial High School auditorium.

Women’s breakfast

The Granby Women’s April 4 breakfast meeting will feature author Janet Barrett who wrote the fascinating book, They Called Her Reckless-A True Story of War, Love and One Extraordinary Horse. Breakfast at the Granby Senior Center starts at 8:30 a.m. with the program beginning at 9 a.m. Cost is $4.

Spring is Here! – It Must be Time for the GEF’s Gran-Bee

The bee hive is humming with activity as spring is finally here and the Granby Education Foundation is planning its 15th annual Gran-Bee trivia contest. A buzz of activity can be heard from GEF’s question committee as they hunt down topics both fantastic and germane to craft questions for Gran-Bee teams. Three-person teams will be challenged with these questions by returning emcee, First Selectman Scott Kuhnly on Friday, April 27, at 6:30 p.m. at the Granby Memorial High School auditorium.

Legion Pancake Breakfast

The American Legion will hold its famous pancake breakfast on Saturday, April 14, from 6 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Post Hall, 244 North Granby Road. The date coincides with the opening of fishing season.

Copper Hill offers welcoming place to worship

In the East Granby countryside, across from the Copper Hill Golf Course, around the corner from a residential area, stands a white building nearly 200 years old, with a big bell beside it. This building is the home of the Copper Hill United Methodist Church.

Granby Camera Club

May 12 SBHS spring flea market

The Salmon Brook Historical Society’s annual Spring Flea Market will be held on Saturday, May 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be 40 to 50 vendors showing and selling their wares. Admission and parking is free to the public.

Valley Pre-School spring tag sale fundraiser

Valley Pre-School’s annual Spring Tag Sale will be held Saturday, April 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Early birds can begin shopping at 8:30 a.m. for a $10 donation to the school. The sale will held at First Congregational Church/Valley Pre-School, 219 North Granby Road, inside Cook Hall.
