The 110-member Farmington Valley Chorale and Artistic Director Dr. Ellen Gilson Voth will present Passages – the Seasons of Life on Friday, April 20, in Avon. The program, according to Dr. Voth, “explores how we experience the passage of time at different stages of life.” In addition to several shorter pieces and songs, the Chorale will perform Brahms’ profound Nänie, and John Corigliano’s musical setting of the Dylan Thomas poem, Fern Hill, with soloist mezzo-soprano, Meredith Ziegler.

Ms. Ziegler has performed in operatic roles throughout New England, appearing as Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia and as Mercedes in Carmen for Opera Theater of Connecticut. In addition to her highly acclaimed vocal performances, she is an adjunct Professor of Voice at UConn’s Storrs campus.

Members of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra will accompany the chorale for this concert.

The concert will be at Valley Community Baptist Church, West Avon Road, Avon on Friday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m. Donation is $20, full-time students are free. For tickets and more information, visit farmingtonvalleychorale.org.
