April 20 Budget Referendum

The Budget Referendum Machine Vote is Monday, April 20, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Town Hall Meeting Room. All registered Granby voters and property owners listed on the October 2025 Grand List may vote at the referendum.

The budget requires a majority of “yes” votes to pass and be in effect for the Fiscal Year beginning July 1. If the proposed budget does not pass, the process is repeated until the budget is approved with a majority vote.

Absentee ballots will be available for those unable to vote in person. Check with the Town Clerk’s office during regular office hours for information on how and when you can receive an Absentee Ballot application.

A public hearing for the budget will be held on Monday, April 6 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium, with a presentation followed by Q & A.

August Primaries

We expect both the Democratic and Republican parties will hold primaries on Aug. 11 for the 2026 election. In Connecticut, you must be a registered member of the party to vote in that party’s primary.

Changes in party affiliation from one major political party to another must be made by May 11 in order to vote in the state primary. However, new voters and unaffiliated voters can register in a major party up until noon on Aug. 10 and vote in their new party’s primary.

Voters may make changes online at the CT Secretary of State’s website, or contact the registrars’ office for other options. Party membership does not cost anything nor are party members obligated to vote along party lines.

Poll Worker Appreciation

Granby Registrars hosted a Poll Worker Tea Party on Feb. 11 to recognize the awesome volunteer work that Granby residents do to make elections in our town run smoothly every year.

If you are interested in helping at the polls or have questions, please contact the registrars at registrarofvoters@granby-ct.gov or stop by the office in the town hall any Wednesday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Multiple poll worker training classes are held before each election/vote.
