A last word on Jenny

At the end of the article on Jenny Emery we wrote for the November issue of the Drummer was a series of tributes paid by various town members. Due to space restrictions, the tributes were only published online in the Bonus Pages. For those readers who have not navigated their way to these pages, we would like to encourage you to do so. All of the messages were heartfelt, but the one by Holcomb Farm’s Joe O’Grady deserves special attention. Joe and Jenny had a very close, strong relationship, with Joe crediting her for much of the farm’s recent success and promise for the future.

Here are a few sentences that only partly tell the amazing story: “This is not to denigrate the work of all those who came before, but to highlight how singular Jenny was in her intelligence, intensity, passion, attention to detail and ability to multitask…We will never see anyone work as hard as Jenny did to make Holcomb Farm the rare gem that it is … There is no one you’d want fighting on your side more than Jenny Emery … The mark she left on the farm in her brief time will be seen for decades….(because of) the love and respect we universally had for her, the farm will certainly become all that Jenny thought it could be.”
