What a day! On Aug. 30, the Friends of Holcomb Farm welcomed hundreds of neighbors, families and friends to Holcomb Farm for the Holcomb Hoedown—a free afternoon filled with music, dancing, games, animals and plenty of good old-fashioned fun.
From the moment guests arrived, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Stompin’ Boots taught people to line dance in the North Barn, Sarah the Fiddler filled the afternoon with live music and dancing, and the oxen from Hickory Hollow Steers impressed everyone with their strength in the fields. The Granby Horse Council put on a horse breed show and games competition, while Riverside Reptiles introduced guests to some fascinating friends. Kids enjoyed the Kid Zone, with arts and crafts and lawn games. Local food trucks provided sustenance.
An event like this doesn’t happen without an incredible community behind it. The Holcomb Hoedown was made possible by the generosity of local sponsors and the many volunteers who gave their time and energy to bring the day to life. Every contribution helped the Friends continue its work of preserving and sharing this historic farm for the benefit of the community.
