Democratic Primary
After the conclusion of three town referendum votes in the spring, the registrars got busy preparing for the Democratic Primary that was held on Aug. 11. Seven days of early voting preceded Primary Day voting.
In the governor’s race, we recorded 625 votes for Ned Lamont and 324 votes for Josh Elliot. Lamont was declared the winner statewide.
In the race for the U.S. Congressional 1st District, Luke Bronin received 557 votes, Ruth Fortune 38 votes, Jillian Gilchrest 72 votes, and John B. Larson 274 votes. Bronin was declared the winner districtwide.
Lamont and Bronin will be on the November ballot as the Democratic candidates for their respective races.
The grand total of 951 voters equals 38.7 percent of eligible Democrats in Granby. Our town should be proud of that participation rate.
We are also proud of and thankful for our volunteers, the town clerk and her staff, and the Department of Public Works, all of whom did an outstanding job administering eight days of voting in this primary.

The registrar’s office is now preparing for a potentially busy Nov. 3 General Election, which will include 14 days of early voting starting on Oct. 19. Details are in the Calendar Review below.
After the election, registrars will prepare for a Municipal Bonding Referendum on Dec. 8.
Electioneering at a Polling Location
The Granby Board of Selectman has adopted a new policy to protect the right of every Granby resident to exercise free speech and assembly as permitted by law, while also ensuring a safe and orderly environment for voters and maintaining the town’s impartiality regarding candidates, political parties and ballot measures.

Poll workers are needed!
Volunteers for early voting sessions and election day must be at least 16 years of age. They have the option to volunteer for a few hours or a full shift as befits their schedule. Please consider helping at the polls this year by emailing the registrars at registrarofvoters@granby-ct.gov Training is required and provided by trained personnel in advance.
Calendar Review
Sept. 22: Information on eligibility for voter registration and procedures for applying will be distributed to the high school.
Oct. 2: Absentee ballots for the November General Election are available.
Oct. 16: Deadline for online, DMV and postmarked voter registrations. There is also a special in-person registration session that day, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.at the registrars’ office in Town Hall. Oct. 19–Nov. 1: Early voting at Town Hall for the General Election, 10 a.m.–6 p.m., including the weekends.
Oct. 27 and 29: Extended hours for Early voting, 8 a.m.–8 p.m.
Nov. 2: Special voter registration session in the registrars’ office, 9 a.m.–5 p.m., for electors who became 18 years of age, U.S. citizens, or residents of Granby since Oct. 16, 2026.
Nov. 3: General Election at Granby Memorial High School, 6 a.m.–8 p.m.
Dec. 8: Bonding referendum at Town Hall, 8 a.m.–8 p.m.
