This year is a busy one for voters. The Town Budget Referendum Vote is Monday, April 20, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Town Hall Meeting Room. A public hearing for the budget is held at the high school on Monday, April 6 at 7 p.m. All registered Granby voters and property owners may vote at the referendum.

A state-wide primary is anticipated in all towns on Tuesday, Aug. 11 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. with early voting and same day registration available at Granby Town Hall Meeting Room Aug. 3 through 9 for: Governor and Lieutenant Governor, U. S. Senator, Representatives in Congress, Secretary of State, Treasurer, Comptroller, Attorney General, multi-town State Senator, State Representatives and Judges of Probate, as well as single-town State Representatives, Judges of Probate and Registrars of Voters. Please watch for further details in the Drummer in the coming months.

The Granby Democratic and Republican Town Committees held their caucuses in January to endorse candidates. The selection of each party’s delegates to state and district conventions will be held the last week of March, with the vote on April 1.

NOTE: For all primaries in the State of Connecticut, you must be a party member of the party you wish to vote for—state party rules prohibit cross voting in another political party’s primary. Unaffiliated and minor party voters are not allowed to vote in primaries. Forty percent of Granby voters are currently unaffiliated, 29 percent are Republican, 29 percent are Democrats and one percent are minor party members. Changes in party affiliation must be made by May 11 in order to vote in the Aug. 11 primary. New voters can register in person as Democrat or Republican up until noon on Aug. 10 to participate in the Aug. 11 primary.
