Support for Becker
I’m happy to support Kim Becker for Granby’s Board of Selectmen. Kim is the kind of neighbor who really listens and cares about people. She’s approachable, thoughtful, and committed to doing what’s best for our town.
Granby is a great place to live and I believe Kim will work hard to keep it that way while helping us move forward. I encourage my fellow residents to join me in voting for her.
Bret Farrer
I believe in Kim Becker and know she could do a lot of good for Granby if elected to the board of selectmen. Kim has an extensive background in local nonprofit leadership, fundraising and governance. She serves on the Granby Commission for Aging, Connecticut Long-term Care Advisory Council, Granby Education Foundation, Justice of the Peace, the Granby Ambulance Association and is President of Granby Homes for Senior Citizens, Inc., which is where I met her.
Kim brings dedication to this community and compassion for the people who live here more than anyone else I have met. On top of that, she is incredibly intelligent and aware of the political and practical issues of the day. Kim is always looking toward how we can be better while respecting what is so special about Granby. She is someone who looks for ways to work together and for common ground. I know Kim will bring a lot of energy and a willingness to do hard work if elected to the board of selectmen. I hope you will consider voting for her.
Helen K. Frye
I am proud to endorse Kim Becker for the Granby Board of Selectmen.
Granby deserves leaders who combine experience, integrity and a genuine commitment to our community—qualities that Kim Becker exemplifies. Over the past several years, I’ve had the privilege of working with Kim on some key community initiatives and have seen firsthand her fairness, tireless work ethic and passion to make Granby a great community.
Kim approaches every issue with care and inclusivity. She listens to residents, welcomes diverse viewpoints and makes decisions grounded in what’s best for the town. Her experience navigating difficult budget and operational decisions shows she has the judgment and resolve we need in town leadership.
But what sets Kim apart is her ability to get things done. She doesn’t just propose ideas, she follows through, builds consensus and delivers tangible results. Through her many community contributions she’s proven she can lead with both vision and action.
For a town that values accountability, collaboration and practical leadership, Kim Becker for the Granby Board of Selectmen is the clear choice. I urge my fellow residents to support her—Granby will be stronger for it.

Support for Tsaptsinos
I have been a neighbor of James Tsaptsinos and a friend for many years. James is a family man who cares about his children and his community. He is a great guy and he volunteers a lot of his time to his community because he really cares and wants to help. He is fiscally responsible and he has been in many leadership roles that he has excelled at. He listens to the needs of the community. I strongly endorse James Tsaptsinos as member of the board of finance.
Dean Blair
When considering someone to manage your money you would look for a person that understands your needs and be mindful of your financial means. James Tsaptsinos is that person. James is running for re-election to the board of finance. I have known James for 14 years and he is a wonderful family man with two great children and a lovely wife, Jessica. James is a leader and an avid volunteer in the community, from heading up public events to coaching sports. He has been employed at KMC Music as general manager for 14 years, which gives him the business background that is needed to manage our tax dollars responsibly.
But what makes James unique is that he understands that not all decisions in this environment can be a business decision, he is open to the needs and interests of all the town’s residents. As we all do, James and his family love the town of Granby, so on Nov. 4 please vote to re-elect James Tsaptsinos to board of finance. Thank you.
James K. Caldwell
Over the past six years, I have had the pleasure of knowing James Tsaptsinos through our children. He is the head coach of my eldest son’s soccer team, and for the past two years, I have served as his assistant coach. James is a passionate and exceptional leader who consistently demonstrates a commitment to enhancing the performance of his team.
James’s passion is palpable during every match, evident in his joyous reactions to player scores and his composed demeanor when faced with opposing goals. His infectious enthusiasm has a remarkable ability to inspire and motivate those around him.
James’s leadership is undeniable, characterized by his natural charisma and ability to draw individuals to his cause. He is actively involved in various community organizations, including the board of finance for the town of Granby and the board of directors for the Rovers. His commitment to leadership roles is evident in his willingness to actively participate in these endeavors.
As a coach, it is natural to prioritize the improvement of one’s team and strive for enhanced performance in each match. James demonstrates a keen ear for the opinions of his teammates and is willing to consider both their suggestions and his own in order to implement the most effective solution at the moment.
James Tsaptsinos is an excellent leader, and has demonstrated that in his work and various volunteer activities.
Michael Sharkey
I am writing to express strong support for James Tsaptsinos for the Granby Board of Finance. Beyond his clear financial expertise and disciplined approach to budgeting, James is a genuinely great person—approachable, honest and relentlessly hardworking. He treats neighbors with respect, follows through on promises and brings a steady, calm presence to difficult conversations.
James’s deep community involvement sets him apart. He has coached youth sports, served on neighborhood committees and helped coordinate events that support charitable organizations. Those roles have given him firsthand knowledge of residents’ priorities and the practical challenges our town faces.
Because he is genuinely connected to our community, James understands what’s in the town’s best interest: protecting essential services, maintaining fiscal responsibility and investing wisely in long-term solutions that benefit everyone. His combination of technical skill, grassroots experience and personal integrity makes him the right choice to safeguard our town’s financial future.
I urge fellow residents to support James Tsaptsinos for the Granby Board of Finance.

Support for Diglio-Tsaptsinos
To the citizens of Granby, I write with enthusiastic support of Jessica Diglio-Tsaptsinos for her to continue as a proud member of the board of education. As new town members who prioritized school systems, we know the value of the board of education. We have three very young children. We need board members who listen and show transparency, which is the foundational platform that Jessica is running on.
Jessica and her family welcomed our family wholeheartedly to our block. As a family they volunteer for love of their town. They serve as coaches, members of the PTO and town leaders. Jessica is the mother of two children. She understands parents’ needs. We need board members whose children are currently in the school system who know what is going on and have a vested interest in their education.
As a professor I have noticed across-the-board foundational skills lacking in students who enter college. Jessica is making it a priority to focus on improving skills desperately needed for our students to succeed. Those skills being reading, writing and STEM. As a town with high standards for our students, we know there is always room to improve these test scores. This is where we can shine in so many ways by having our rankings improve and really standing out on a state and national level.
Go out and vote for Jessica, she has outstanding values as a parent, volunteer and neighbor in our community.
Colleen Krause-Badalucco
As a longtime Granby resident and fellow parent, I’m proud to support Jessica Diglio-Tsaptsinos in her candidacy for the Granby board of education. I had the privilege of serving with Jessica on the Granby PTO Board, where she led as president before, during and after the challenges of COVID.
Jessica has consistently shown up, not just with ideas, but with action. She’s passionate about this town, its children and the quality of education they receive. She listens, collaborates and follows through. Her ability to lead with empathy and purpose, even during uncertain times, left a lasting impression on our school community.
Jessica’s platform reflects exactly what Granby needs: transparency between the board of education and families, smart fiscal responsibility to better support teachers and schools, meaningful collaboration across town boards, accountability at the administrative level, and a renewed focus on core academics like reading, writing and STEM.
Granby deserves someone with the courage to ask hard questions and the dedication to find thoughtful solutions. Please join me in voting for Jessica Diglio-Tsaptsinos this November.
Colby Stoltz
It is without hesitation that I support Jessica Diglio-Tsaptsinos, who is running as a Republican for the board of education.
Jessica is a long-time Granby resident with two children in the school district. She has been deeply involved in our community and schools, including a successful tenure as president of the Granby PTO. Jessica worked to build communications between the various stakeholders in Granby Public Schools including teachers, parents and the broader Granby community. If elected to the board of education, she would continue this work of developing greater transparency and communication for all members of the Granby school community.
Jessica has stressed the importance of improving student achievement for all learners. She believes that our schools should place a greater focus on the core academic curriculum, enabling all students to be successful lifelong learners.
Jessica’s professional experience in the finance industry would be a welcome addition to the BOE. Like most school districts, there are limited resources that need to be utilized in a way that creates the greatest efficiency and benefits the greatest number of students. Jessica is committed to the hard work of finding new efficiencies in our budget, so that resources can be better deployed to keep our best teachers in town and give schools the resources they need to benefit all students.
Jessica’s professional experience, along with her deep commitment to our community, schools and students would make her a valuable member of the Granby Board of Education.
David Peling Ed.D.
I am pleased to write this letter in strong support of Jessica Diglio-Tsaptsinos for a position on the Granby Board of Ed.
I have known Jess for about eight years. We volunteered together for the Granby Little League and I have seen the positive impact she made during her years as PTO president. Throughout the time that I have known Jess, I have been consistently impressed by her commitment to our community and schools.
Effective board members are collaborative and accountable with a deep understanding of community needs. Jess embodies these qualities. I saw this firsthand when she was coordinating opening day activities for the little league. She displayed leadership, financial responsibility and effective teamwork. Jess listens to ideas, welcomes different opinions and knows how to focus on a goal. Furthermore, Jess cares deeply about our schools. As soon as her son was in the Granby schools, she became involved in the PTO and eventually became president. This allowed her to work with administrators, staff and parents to help support our students and teachers. She was able to see the power of engaged families and educators working together for the benefit of our students. Jess is already listening to concerns of parents and if she has the opportunity to remain on the board, I know that she will continue to ensure the decisions of our school board put students first.
Christine Santa
I encourage all voters to choose Jessica Diglio-Tsaptsinos for the Granby Board of Education this November.
Jessica will strike the right balance between supporting academic excellence and ensuring fiscal responsibility at the same time. As both a mother and a taxpayer, she knows the challenges and opportunities that our town faces. She’s also a great listener, staunch advocate for transparency within our schools, and I’m confident she will always put our students, teachers and families first.
As an unaffiliated voter, I believe it is more important than ever to elect thoughtful, committed leaders that we can trust to make sure Granby is a place where we want to keep raising our families—and Jessica is that person. Please vote for her on Nov. 4.
Sarah Floroski
It is my sincere pleasure to recommend Jessica Diglio-Tsaptsinos for the Granby Board of Education. Jessica is a passionate advocate for our schools and a dedicated supporter of high-quality education for every student in our community.
Throughout the years, Jessica has consistently demonstrated her deep commitment to the Granby Public School System. Whether she is attending board meetings, volunteering at school events or engaging with families and teachers, Jessica approaches every conversation with thoughtfulness, respect and a clear vision for excellence. She truly believes that strong schools are the foundation of a strong community, and she will work tirelessly to ensure that all students have the opportunity to thrive.
Jessica brings not only passion but also insight. She understands the importance of balancing academic rigor with the social and emotional well-being of students. She values the voices of teachers and parents alike and seeks collaborative solutions that strengthen the educational experience. Her leadership style is inclusive, informed and guided by a genuine desire to see Granby’s schools flourish.
I am confident that Jessica will bring energy, integrity and thoughtful decision-making to the board of education. She will be a strong advocate for students, families and educators, and she will work hard to maintain the high standards that make our school system exceptional.
For these reasons and many more, I wholeheartedly support Jessica Diglio-Tsaptsinos for the Granby Board of Education. Our schools and community will be fortunate to benefit from her dedication and leadership.
Caylene Zullo
I first met Jessica when our boys attended Valley Pre-K together. Since then, we’ve become not only close friends but family. Our sons continue to grow up together in the Granby School System, and her daughter, Evangeline—my goddaughter—will soon start Pre-K here. As a longtime Granby resident, I understand how vital our schools are to providing a quality education for every child.
Jessica is deeply passionate about our schools and committed to finding real solutions to tough challenges. She listens to parents and residents, brings their concerns forward and ensures those voices are heard. Jessica is running on a platform of transparency between parents and the board of education—something our community has long wanted and needs. She believes in returning to the basics—reading, writing and STEM—as the foundation for improving test scores, exceeding expectations and raising academic standards.
We need someone who not only listens to parents but also values and supports our teachers. Jessica recognizes how much we ask of them and is committed to ensuring they’re compensated fairly. Her focus on fiscal responsibility—identifying redundancies and inefficiencies—will help ensure resources are used wisely and directed where they matter most: our classrooms. She’s dedicated to collaborating with all town boards year-round, not just during budget season.
Please join me in voting for Jessica Diglio-Tsaptsinos for board of education on Nov. 4.
Caroline Caldwell
I am proud to endorse Jessica Diglio-Tsaptsinos for the board of education. When Ali stepped down, Jessica stepped up. She has been actively involved since being sworn in. Jessica and her husband James have both been actively involved in Granby’s governance, schools and sports.
Jess is committed to transparency between the BOE and parents/guardians, fiscal responsibility and weeding out redundancies so that we can retain our teachers and pay them a more competitive salary, working collaboratively with the other town boards, holding the administration accountable and raising our scores and getting back to the basics. For these reasons, I endorse Jess and look forward to working with her on the board of education.

Support for Toby Proctor
I’m writing today to express my resounding recommendation for Toby Proctor as he runs for a seat on the Granby Board of Finance. Toby brings with him years of thoughtful, intelligent and dedicated involvement in community groups and boards, as well as an insight into the ways that Granby can be best served moving forward.
With his long background in civic engagement, not to mention his dedicated service to our country, Toby comes to this position with a unique ability to hold informed positions on the bigger global picture of events that impacts a town such as ours and, as such, valuable experience and insight into the approaches that will best support the continued success of Granby.
While our family first got to know Toby as a fellow parent with children in preschool who led with kindness and care, we’ve come to know him as a dedicated volunteer working to support and sustain Granby. Volunteering alongside Toby, it doesn’t take long to see that his measured, positive and pragmatic approach to problem solving and community building are one of the things that make him stand out and these qualities are what will work to benefit Granby if he is elected to the board of finance. His dedication and continued investment in Granby speak volumes, and his integrity and continued fidelity to the people of this town make him an outstanding choice for this seat!
Meg Bunz
It is a pleasure to endorse my neighbor and good friend Toby Proctor for board of finance.
Toby is a devoted father and husband, a Navy combat veteran, and a fierce Independent. He is community driven and service oriented, serving on the Granby Education Foundation, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) as well as numerous volunteer associations such as Valley Lodge Freemasons, Simsbury Theater Guild and Trinity Church Choir in Tariffville. His professional career centers on corporate financial analysis and budget planning.
Toby deeply cares about our town. He wants to utilize Granby’s strong financial reserves to reduce taxpayer burden. We’re fortunate to be sitting on a war chest of cash, and his goal is to make investments today to make life easier for all of us tomorrow. Toby is open to modest commercial and industrial development in an effort to diversify our tax base. In order to be competitive with neighboring towns, Toby also sees a need to increase classroom teacher salaries. This is essential to attract and retain the talent necessary to sustain the future of our solid school system.
Toby has a gregarious spirit toward which people gravitate. He is a team-player and consensus builder. Please join me in supporting his candidacy on Nov. 4.
Pete Morizio
I am writing to enthusiastically endorse Toby Proctor for the board of finance in Granby this fall. Balancing spending management and services realignment is a key financial and management challenge for the town.
Toby Proctor and his thoughtful analytical approach and his significant financial and management experience is an essential component of resolving this challenge.
I have known Toby for several years and can attest to his integrity, honesty, financial skills and management experience (not to mention having served as a pilot and manager in the US Navy). Toby is raising his children in Granby and he actively participates with local groups including a local church choir.
Noteworthy is Toby’s endorsement by the National Forward Party. For those unfamiliar, the Forward Party is a third party among whose goals are a commitment to civil discourse, compromise and getting things done. Especially important in today’s polarized environment, Toby will help reach thoughtful decisions that benefit the entire community regardless of party politics.
I am confident that Toby will work collaboratively and earnestly for the benefit of all citizens of Granby. Please cast your vote for Toby!

True leadership isn’t about titles or power—it’s about service. That’s something Toby Proctor has embodied his entire life, from his time as a naval flight officer to his years volunteering in Granby. His record reflects a steady, civic-minded leader who believes in bringing people together and finding practical solutions that make Granby stronger. He’s running because he loves this town and believes deeply in responsible stewardship of its future.
A Navy veteran, engineer and financial analyst, Toby brings a rare combination of discipline, pragmatism, and compassion to public service. For more than a decade, he and his wife, Darcy, have raised their family in Granby, volunteering with the Granby Education Foundation and School Building Committee to serving on the Community Emergency Response Team and the Granby Celebrates America’s 250th Committee. His record shows someone who rolls up his sleeves and gets things done.
If elected to the board of finance, Toby plans to apply his professional experience and fiscal expertise to help Granby keep taxes fair while protecting the town’s rural character, excellent schools and strong community spirit. He knows that true fiscal conservatism isn’t about short-term cuts, but about long-term stability and smart investment.
Toby’s independence is another mark of his leadership. Running unaffiliated but endorsed by the Granby Democrats, the Forward Party, and the Independent Veterans of America, he embodies the kind of collaboration and integrity that government needs more of.

I’ve known Toby Proctor for years and he’s exactly the kind of person you want shaping Granby’s financial future. Pragmatic, detail-oriented and deeply invested in the community, Toby brings both real-world experience and genuine care to the table.
With more than 15 years as a financial professional and eight years of service as a U.S. Navy combat veteran, Toby’s background speaks for itself. But what truly sets him apart is his balance—fiscally fair, yet empathetic to the economic challenges that local families and municipalities face.
As a former Republican and now unaffiliated voter, I’m encouraged to see someone who looks past partisanship to focus on what matters most: stability, transparency and collaboration. Toby is endorsed by both the Granby Democrats and the Forward Party–a testament to his common-sense approach and respect across the aisle.
This election isn’t just about politics; it’s about stewardship. Let’s make sure our town’s finances remain strong and sustainable.

Support for Dethlefsen
We wholeheartedly endorse Melissa Dethlefsen in her run for a position on the BOE because of her commitment to excellence and proven track record of leadership.
As a mother of three, she brings genuine compassion and real-world perspective to the challenges facing our community and schools.
Her professional achievements speak volumes—as director of digital marketing and a 2021 “40 under 40” honoree, she has demonstrated exceptional communication skills and the ability to drive meaningful results.
Together with her husband Nick, Melissa has consistently championed fairness and integrity. She stays informed on critical issues while maintaining the open-mindedness to truly listen to diverse perspectives—a rare and valuable quality in today’s climate.
Melissa’s work ethic is remarkable. She tackles complex challenges with determination and grace, making the seemingly impossible look routine. I’m confident she will bring this same dedication to strengthening Granby’s schools, ensuring they remain focused on their core mission: providing students with excellent, rigorous education free from distractions.
A vote for Melissa is a vote for academic excellence—returning our schools to places where students can focus on learning, growing and achieving their full potential.
Mike and Heather Guglielmone
Being a Granby high school student I knew I could offer a unique perspective on Melissa Dethlefsen’s candidacy for the board of education.
I met Melissa when my brother joined the Granby Rovers soccer team. She is one of my mother’s best friends, as well as mine. Melissa is an overachiever, a dedicated individual and a hard worker. She listens to everyone’s opinions and has an open mind. Melissa has helped me overcome struggles with school, relationships and more.
Even with Melissa’s full-time job, she finds time to support her three children with their sports and extracurricular activities. Melissa helps other parents by offering rides, a house for sleepovers and brings food to soccer games. Most importantly, Melissa is an active community volunteer. She has been the Rovers soccer team manager for years. Each year, Melissa goes above and beyond to create personalized gifts for each player. She works well with the coaches, showing her ability to communicate, collaborate and be diligent to everyone’s schedules.
Melissa makes a difference in the Granby school system. She is president of the PTO, and makes time to volunteer as room parent. Melissa’s ability to positively influence individuals, groups and communities convinced me that she was the ideal candidate for this position. As a high school student, I wish to see Melissa be a part of the board of education because she will make decisions that are in our best interests.
Ashley Hodgkin
I have had the privilege of serving alongside Melissa Dethlefsen for the past two years on the Granby PTO, where she serves as president. In that time, I’ve seen firsthand how her energy, creativity and leadership have helped rejuvenate the PTO and re-engage families. With her school-centered approach, Melissa has brought fresh ideas, new community events and a genuine sense of connection between parents, teachers and students.
Melissa leads with heart. She listens to others, values every perspective and always works to find solutions that put our schools first. She’s the kind of person who quietly steps up wherever she’s needed.
As a mom, volunteer and community leader, Melissa is fantastic at encouraging others to get involved. She cares deeply about the direction of education in Granby as is evidenced by her commitment to creating a warm school community of staff and families.
Granby would be fortunate to have someone with Melissa’s dedication, thoughtfulness and strong values on the board of education. I have no doubt she will bring the same passion and commitment to the BOE that she brings to everything she does.
Kelly Giannuzzi
I am writing to express my strong support for Melissa Dethlefsen for the Granby Board of Education. I work alongside Melissa on the PTO Board and have witnessed her commitment to putting our schools, educators, students and families first.
Melissa approaches every challenge with thoughtfulness and sensitivity to the diverse and evolving needs of our school community. She is proactive and listens with genuine intent to understand, ensuring that all voices are heard and valued. Her focus on creating lasting, positive impacts for Granby is evident in everything she does.
Melissa has also been a dedicated volunteer across community and youth sports organizations, including serving on the Rovers Board. She shows up, supports others in a positive and constructive manner, and gives her time to strengthen the fabric of our community.
Melissa understands the importance of providing educational opportunities tailored to meet the needs of all students. She is dedicated to ensuring that every child’s experience is both meaningful and fulfilling.
Melissa is not afraid to ask the difficult questions—about how our tax dollars are being spent or how we can better retain and support our outstanding teachers. She believes that transparency, accountability and open dialogue are key to maintaining the high quality of education our community expects and deserves.
For these reasons, I wholeheartedly support Melissa Dethlefsen for the board of education. Melissa has my vote on Nov. 4—and she should have yours too.
Alison Dion
I enthusiastically recommend my friend, neighbor and fellow GOP party member Melissa Dethlefsen for the board of education (BOE). Dethlefsen is an invested member of our community and public education system as she and her husband have three children that attend Granby Public Schools. We have been neighbors for eight years as our children have progressed through the school levels together. She is aware of the challenges facing our education system through all stages of development. She only wants the best and most efficiently delivered education our community, and I know she will work hard because she has a proven track record of excellence in delivering on her promises professionally and personally.
Dethlefsen has a successful and award-winning career in marketing for major local companies. In 2021 she was included as a “40 Under Forty” Award Honoree from the Hartford Business Journal showing that she understands the importance of delivering the best and relevant communication product possible, a valuable characteristic for serving on the BOE.
I personally know that she always follows through on her promises, which is something we need more of in this world. We have joined forces in carpooling our children to school for the past three school years without one missed week. She has always been responsive to communication, flexible when needed and understanding when issues arise. I appreciate having her in my life, and I know our education community will be better with her serving on the BOE.

There are six words every parent in this town has either uttered or heard (usually both) countless times: “We moved here for the schools.”
When we moved to Granby seven years ago with elementary-aged children, both now GMHS students, Granby Public Schools were a driving force behind our move.
Initially we did not involve ourselves in local politics, however, we have been Granby residents long enough to have noticed that there is room for improvement in our schools. The most outstanding individual for this is board of education candidate Melissa Dethlefsen.
Melissa and I were room parents in our kids’ third grade classroom at Wells. From that time, I would see Melissa at every school meeting, event and activity I attended, often running the show or in some volunteer position. Melissa is the current PTO president, registrar and multi-team manager for Granby Rovers Soccer, and somehow also works full-time. We all wonder how a parent with three children (often in three different schools) can manage such a workload but Melissa is involved, organized, energetic and extremely capable. More importantly, she listens to parents’ concerns and advocates for what is right for all our kids. She is a collaborative team player and I trust her to do the right thing, whether or not it is popular.
As a proud Granby parent and community member, I am enthusiastically voting for Melissa Dethlefsen for board of education, and I hope you will too.

Support for Ohannessian
I strongly support Ed Ohannessian for Granby’s moderator. As a long-serving member of the board of finance, I have witnessed Ed’s many contributions and accomplishments in the service of Granby’s critical government operating boards. He has served with distinction on our board of education for eight years, as vice chair and heading the key finance, personnel and facilities committees. He broadened his service to Granby with an additional four terms on the board of selectmen. Without question, he is well versed in all matters that impact the lives of our town’s citizenry and has an enviable track record that is highly respected by all peers.
Given his broad knowledge and experience, he also chaired Granby’s Charter Commission last year to revise and improve the guiding document under which Granby’s operations and governmental organizations are conducted. He brought the many different ideas and points of view to a collaborative conclusion that received the unanimous support from the board of selectmen.
In addition to his invaluable service to our town, Ed has held a number of leadership positions in professional financial organizations, served on the boards of the Holcomb Farm and Granby’s Little League.
As Granby’s moderator, Ed will continue to work for the balanced interests of our town and will address our rapidly changing fiscal, social and governmental demands. His many talents and honed skills will serve us well in the future. Please join me in voting for Ed Ohannessian on Nov. 4.

Support for Chapple
I am writing to state my strong support for Margaret “Peggy” Chapple for board of selectmen.
Peggy, her husband Wayne, and their children and grandchildren are long time Granby residents and outstanding members of our community.
Letters often highlight the subject’s many years of public service. In Peggy’s case, this is not hyperbole; it is simple truth. Peggy has served on the board of selectmen for several years, after serving on the planning and zoning commission, most of that time as vice chair. Recently, the BOS appointed Peggy to serve as its representative on the Plan of Conservation and Development Committee, which Mark Lockwood and I are co-chairing. This represents an additional commitment of a great deal of time to our town, but Peggy agreed. We are happy to be working closely with Peggy again.
Peggy has spent her professional career as assistant and associate attorney general. When Attorney General Tong took office in 2019, he asked Peggy to serve as his Deputy Attorney General, second in command of a large and important state agency. Of course, she said yes, and served our state in that very important role for all of AG Tong’s first term. Peggy’s commitment to public service in Granby and to our state is complete and unconditional.
Please vote for Peggy Chapple for board of selectmen in the Nov. 4 election, and allow this very dedicated public servant to continue her work on behalf of the Town of Granby.

Support for Billig
Having a school board member with a strong background as an educator and a Granby parent and community member would be incredibly valuable to our community, which is why we need Andrew Billig on our board of education.
Andrew’s commitment to our community is clear. He’s an involved parent in the district and a long-time community volunteer, but what truly sets him apart from most other candidates is his extensive experience as an educator.
Andrew is a veteran teacher in another district, having worked for 18-plus years in multiple states and districts, which has given him incredible insight and knowledge that is beneficial for Granby, especially when educational funding is often at risk.
Andrew goes above in his current role as a classroom teacher. Beyond making decisions within the classroom, he serves in leadership positions, provides guidance within his district regarding policy and curriculum and offers training to his peers. Andrew has the expertise Granby needs in finding creative and budget-friendly solutions that would benefit not only teachers and the district, but more importantly, would support students and families at this critical time.
Perhaps we can all agree that we want to provide the best education for our children while making every hard-earned tax dollar count, and having Andrew on our board of education is our best chance to make this possible.
On November 4, elect Andrew Billig for a stronger school board and a better community.
Joanna Ryznar
Through my experience on Granby’s Board of Education, I’m acutely aware that building trust with our community is paramount to every goal we set out to accomplish. BOE candidate Andrew Billig is someone who has authentically built a trusting, caring relationship with many in our community through his volunteerism and his experience as a 19-year veteran high school teacher.
My family first got to know Andrew and his lovely family through GRANBEAST Softball where Andrew coaches our youngest athletes through patience, positivity, and always with a measured, level-headed approach—I have literally never heard the guy yell.
With pride, Andrew speaks about his nearly two decades working in city school districts as a high school science teacher—and his work to address post-COVID challenges. What has stood out most is Andrew’s thoughts retaining quality teachers when budget restrictions mean surrounding districts pay more. This is at the core of who Andrew is as someone who has chosen to remain teaching in his school system and provide consistency for his students despite the pull to take a higher salary elsewhere.
Andrew is approachable, thoughtful and responds in a measured, fact-based, student-first way. I’m proud to endorse Andrew Billig and our other kind and approachable democratic candidate, Ann Woods, for board of education. We’re making forward progress for Granby schools and both Andrew and Ann will help to strengthen key areas like communication, teacher retention and academic growth. Please join me in voting row A on November 4th.

Support for Perron
My wife Jean and I have proudly called Granby home since 1996. We raised our three daughters here—all Granby Memorial High School graduates—and built our lives around this community.
Public service has always been a priority. I’m completing my first term on the board of finance and have served Granby in many roles, including nine years on the board of education, charter revision commission, Granby Education Foundation chair and as a youth coach.
These experiences have shaped my understanding of what matters to Granby families. We face real challenges: growing state mandates, uncertain federal support and residents expecting quality education and services without runaway costs. Meeting these demands responsibly requires each operating board to first review operations, find efficiencies and redirect resources—before asking taxpayers for more.
Progress is underway. The school district has reduced special ed costs and town operations have been streamlined to redirect resources. But we must do more. Since 2018, district enrollment is down 20 percent, yet staffing is up 5 percent. That’s not sustainable. We must examine operating boards (BOE, BOS) redundancies and seek efficiencies—within the constraints of contracts and regulations.
Leadership matters. We need the three boards, BOE, BOF and BOS to commit to put Granby residents first, with smart spending, strong schools and a focus on public safety and transparency. The Republican candidates have made that commitment.
I ask for your vote to continue serving on the board of finance and keep Granby strong through collaboration and mutual respect.
Ben Perron
Support for Perron & Tsaptsinos
Without reservation I ask that the voters support Ben Perron and James Tsaptsinos in this election for the board of finance. Both currently serve with me on the board of finance and know what it takes to balance the needs and wants of our community with the cost of meeting those needs. It takes a good understanding of the components of the overall town budget and how they work, a solid appreciation of town finances and of our fiscal position…and how we got there, and most importantly a strong sense of the importance of fiscal responsibility as we collectively work to shape Granby’s future. As a life-long resident here, I know that Granby is a great town to live in…to raise a family in…and to stay in as one’s golden years approach. I also know very well how we have worked to make our town into what it is today…and that these two individuals have what it takes to move the town forward within a reasonable cost to us all as taxpayers. Please join me in voting for Ben and James!

Support for Demchak
It is my honor to endorse David Demchak for election to the board of finance. Not only is he a seasoned executive with years of fiduciary expertise, he is also a committed community member, volunteering countless hours for the benefit of Granby.
At the time that I joined the Lost Acres Fire Department 11 years ago, Dave was 10 years into his 20-year tenure as president of the department. He has contributed to my growth by being both a mentor and a friend, giving me valuable guidance in my development as a firefighter and in my professional career. He also played a pivotal role in the department’s growth, leading the financial and business side of the department with integrity and a clear sense of duty and mission. I had the privilege of serving beside him as vice president during his final year as president and know personally the tangible impact that he has made.
While my view of Dave has mostly been through the lens of the fire service, it is noticeable how much he cares for this community and its people even beyond that role. While he is still answering the call and fighting fires as a member, he is also on the advisory board for the Farmington Valley YMCA, and has previously served on numerous other boards for the community.
I know that David Demchak is an excellent choice for the board of finance, and I hope you join me in voting for him!
Bill Langdon
As longtime Granby residents and parents of three adolescent and young adult children, my wife and I chose this town for its character, its small-town spirit and the opportunities it offers to be actively involved in public schools, youth sports and local organizations. We care deeply about the future of our community—and that’s why we’re proud to support David Demchak for the Granby Board of Finance.
We’ve known Dave for many years and have seen firsthand the integrity, experience and commitment he brings to everything he does. His professional background—leading the Connecticut Interlocal Risk Management Agency and serving as COO of the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities—gives him unmatched insight into municipal finance, risk management and long-term planning. He’s worked with towns across Connecticut and understands what it takes to keep Granby fiscally strong and sustainable.
But what makes Dave truly exceptional is his dedication to service. From his decades as a firefighter and past president of the Lost Acres Fire Department to his roles with the Granby Ambulance Association, Holcomb Farm and the Farmington Valley YMCA, Dave has consistently stepped up for Granby.
He’s not just qualified—he’s invested. He believes in responsible budgeting, transparent decision-making and preserving the quality of life we all value. We trust him to make thoughtful, informed choices that benefit our families and our future.
Please join us in voting for David Demchak for the board of finance. Granby deserves his leadership.

We write this letter in support of our neighbor and friend, David Demchak, who is running for board of finance this November. We have known Dave since we moved to the neighborhood in 2001.
Dave is eminently qualified for the board of finance. He has 36 years of experience as an insurance executive serving local government with 11 years as CEO. He has expertise in financial leadership, investment strategy and capital management. He works with municipal leadership across the state on financial, legal and legislative issues. He has a deep understanding of municipal budgets and operations. He is a community leader previously serving on the board of finance.
In addition to his significant experience with corporate governance, Dave has an extensive record of volunteer service to our community. He has volunteered for 27 years as a firefighter and has served for 20 years as president of Lost Acres Fire Department. He has served on the boards of Granby Ambulance Association and Friends of Holcomb Farm. He is currently vice-chair of Farmington Valley YMCA Advisory Council.
Dave is an advocate for realistic and responsible budgets, sustaining reliable town services, strong schools and fiscal stability. He is committed to listening and fostering an environment of collaboration and meaningful solutions that serve our entire community.
Most importantly, he is a great neighbor and great human being. Dave has our vote for board of finance this November.

I am writing to express my strong support for David Demchak, ARM, candidate for the Granby Board of Finance. Many Granby residents know David from his prior service on the board of finance and the Granby bridge committee. I have had the privilege of working with David for the past 13 years through the Lost Acres Fire Department and I can say without hesitation that he is an invaluable asset to our town.
David’s professional background—as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Connecticut Interlocal Risk Management Agency (CIRMA)–demonstrates his deep understanding of municipal finance and operations. His experience and leadership are exactly what Granby needs on the board of finance today.
Since becoming a Granby resident in 1997, David has shown an unwavering commitment to our community. He joined the Lost Acres Fire Department shortly after moving here and has served on the Board of the Granby Ambulance Association, exemplifying his dedication to public service.
David brings a combination of expertise, integrity and community spirit that would once again serve the town of Granby well on the board of finance. I wholeheartedly endorse his candidacy and encourage my fellow residents to join me in supporting David Demchak.

Support for McCord
I first met Kent McCord in 2017 when, as a member of Granby Conservation Commission, he helped lead the town-wide Solarize campaign. Working with Solarize Connecticut staff, we chose the solar contractor based on quality and cost, held public information sessions and provided detailed information through The Drummer and other media. The campaign was a great success—we doubled the number of solar-powered homes in town.
Kent’s decades of experience in the energy industry, and his understanding of technology and financial details, ensured the campaign and results were efficient and cost-effective. Kent’s professional experience, and his calm, thoughtful, realistic approach to the conservation commission’s projects over the years, would make him an excellent board of finance member.

Support for Woods
I am proud to support Ann Woods as a candidate for the Granby Board of Education. Through personal experience, I know Ann will be a trusted, positive and receptive voice on our board of education.
My family moved to Granby nine years ago, and from the beginning Ann was the kind of friend that really made me feel welcome here. She checked on our well-being, shared the scoop about school and town happenings and connected us with other families. Over the years I have learned that this is her way. She finds joy in connecting with people, getting to know them, and sharing with them–adults and kids alike. She genuinely listens, finds common ground and respects differences. She is great at connecting people with other people. I believe Ann’s ability to listen and build community will be a great asset to the board.
Ann is honest, authentic and practical. She finds ways to get things done even when resources are limited. If she has questions, she pursues every avenue to get answers, and when she finds answers, she shares them with others. I know she will bring all these qualities and more to the board of education and help lead us to successful schools. Please consider voting for Ann Woods for Granby Board of Education.
