The backpacks are getting dusted off and flip-flops are going into the back of the closet, but the  volunteers who put on the annual used book sale for the Friends of Granby Public Library are gearing up to work.
This year’s sale will be held Friday through Sunday, Sept. 15–17, at Holcomb Farm in West Granby.

Generous donors have flooded the Friends with hundreds of items, that a cadre of volunteers have worked on all summer long. Donated items were inspected for quality and condition, meticulously sorted and stored, to be ready for the sale. Being known for the quality of items and level of detail in organizing and presenting items for sale, the Friends are proud to continue this tradition for the 35th year.  Bargain hunters are never disappointed at the Friends used book sale.
Hardcover and paperback books, coffee table and vintage books, a collection of first edition and autographed books, CDs, DVDs, puzzles, games, learning toys and other book-related items will be available for purchase.
Set in gorgeous West Granby, Holcomb Farm will again be the setting for the book sale. There is plenty of free parking, a fully accessible site, great lighting and many eager and helpful volunteers. All the necessary ingredients for a delightful shopping experience are provided.
The sale starts on Friday, September 15, from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. An entry fee of $5 gives Friday evening shoppers the first peek and best selection of the sale. Saturday hours are from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., and prices are as marked. Sunday hours are 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., and although there are no set prices, reasonable donations are appreciated. Look in the Yankee Flyer and Southwick News during the two weeks prior to the sale for a coupon entitling the bearer to two books (restrictions apply).
Proceeds from the book sale, the primary fundraising event sponsored by the Friends, support the mission and goals of Granby Public Library. Funds assist in the purchase of additions to the collection, programming, museum passes, special events and other needs that may arise.
