The Friends of Granby Public Library (FOGPL) are gearing up for the 2017 Annual Used Book Sale at Holcomb Farm, but your help is needed!
As always, the success of the 35th Annual Used Book Sale will be due entirely to the generosity of donors and volunteers. This year, the Friends are looking for volunteers who can help in a variety of ways, such as: collecting sturdy boxes (boxes with covers, like copy paper boxes is a plus), sorting and boxing donated items at Holcomb Farm throughout the summer or working at the September book sale.
FOGPL will also be reaching out to Granby community civic groups, churches and the high school, in hope that more men (young and old) will be able to assist the group move the stored boxes a few days prior to the actual sale. Student volunteers, remember, this is a great opportunity to have some fun while earning community service hours.

So, if in the next week or so, you begin to think about “Spring Cleaning”, please box up your used books, CDs/DVDs, puzzles and games. The Friends will be ready on June 5 to accept your donations. Please be aware that only gently used books that are free of any markings or that don’t smell of mildew or smoke can be accepted. More information regarding donation sites and the criteria used for acceptance of donated items will be posted on the library website, www.granby-ct.gov and in future articles.
Finally, in last month’s Drummer, a bright yellow, Friends of Granby Public Library Membership form was inserted in the newspaper. Please consider becoming a member. FOGPL is a not-for-profit organization and all dues and donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Membership forms are also available on the FOGPL website and at the Granby Public Library.
