NEAM will open for Memorial Day weekend

The New England Air Museum reopened its five-acre outdoor grounds for Memorial Day Weekend. Visitors had an opportunity to see 10 aircraft outside, peek inside exhibit hangars through open hangar doors, and get a behind-the-scenes look into the museum’s storage hangar, a space that is rarely open to the public.

Food Drive at Farmington Woods exceeds expectations

The residents of Farmington Woods topped their goals for both food collection and donations at their Gifts of Love Food Drive on May 17. Residents donated 1,608 pounds of food (with a retail value of $3,000) and cash and gift cards that totaled more than $4,100.

Social distancing and Al-Anon meetings

Alcoholism affects as many as one in four people who live in our community. Al-Anon is a free program for friends and families of alcoholics who suffer from the impact of a loved one’s drinking.

MS Support Group

The Granby Multiple Sclerosis Support Group normally meets at the Senior Center at 1 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month.

SBHS Cancellations

Following the social distancing guidelines of the Governor’s office to prevent the spread of coronavirus and limit groups to five or fewer, the Salmon Brook Historical Society has cancelled the following events: the May 16 Spring Flea Market, the June 6 Car and Tractor Show and the June 20 Ice Cream Social.

Volunteers Needed

Mary’s Kitty Korner, Granby’s no-kill cat shelter, is looking for volunteers to help care for its kitties until they find their fur-ever homes.
