I am writing in support of Clark Farm’s application to the Planning and Zoning Commission to have a select number and type of events in their very nice looking white tent on the orchard property. The residents of Strawberry Field have issued several complaints.
The Boards of Selectmen and Education presented their Plus-One Budgets to the Board of Finance and town residents at the annual Three-Board Meeting held on Jan. 22.
At a recent board meeting of the Granby Land Trust, a discussion occurred regarding dog walking on Land Trust properties. Leashed dogs have been and are always welcome, but board member and veteran birder John Weeks brought “secondary scent-vectored predation” to the table at a recent board meeting.
On Jan. 15, representatives from the Connecticut Department of Transportation presented information on the current status of the project to reconfigure Granby center.
Herb Hulbert had questions regarding the Kearns Community Center Project. After turning down money for the town from the Evonsion farm offer, will we be doing the same with Kearns?
Legislative update
At the Dec. 17 meeting, Representative Simanski and Senator Witkos gave an update on the state legislature, noting that a big push is being made for no more unfunded mandates.
The directors of the committee proposing the new use of the Kearns school building as a community center gave a presentation to the Board of Selectmen at its Dec. 17 meeting, which was followed by a public hearing at the Board’s Jan.
A second student liaison has joined the Board of Selectmen. Granby Memorial High School senior James Kuhnly has always been interested in world happenings, and closer to home, local government, having an uncle who served 40 years on Simsbury’s Planning and Zoning commission.
Moosehorn, Griffin, Donohue, Simsbury, Hungary and Enders — Granby roads with bridge issues. The wheels of government turn slowly when it comes to diagnosing and financing repairs of these structures, but inspections have been made, problems identified and financing is in the works.
