A couple of months ago, Farmer O’Grady talked about all the work that has to be done in the winter months on a big farm such as Holcomb Farm in West Granby. These photos capture the Farm on a single day, Feb. 21, which happened to be a 50+ degree day, so the crew could work without the usual layers of cold weather protection typical for mid-winter.
When deciding where to sign on to a practice, Dr. Marjorie (MJ) Bruce chose the Salmon Brook Veterinary Hospital in 2019 because of its reputation of having top-of-the-line diagnostic equipment and treatments that are hard to find at smaller-sized local veterinaries. She was impressed with the fact that the large animal team has the benefit of a full laboratory, knowledgeable receptionists and dedicated technicians.
The Bright Spot Therapy dogs were the center of attention at Starbucks coffee shop’s Coffee with Canines in Granby center on Feb. 28 from 2 to 4 in the afternoon. The dogs’ owners frequently stop at the coffee shop after their weekly sessions with the dogs at Bradley International Airport, and the folks at Starbucks thought it would be fun to invite the dogs in so people could get to meet them and learn a bit about what therapy dogs do.
If you enjoy hiking in the Granby Land Trust’s preserves, you have probably noticed on the kiosks at the entrances to the properties that there is information on how you can download a map of the trails therein. The man behind this technology, who also happens to have made the kiosks, is Steve Perry.
It took almost four years, but town residents received a Christmas present when the Griffin Road bridge finally re-opened on Dec. 21.

Just before the December holidays began, the pumpkin field at the Coward Farm on North Granby Road took on a radiant green color! Too soon to be planting pumpkins—what was going on there?
