Transfer Station hours: In addition to Saturdays, the transfer station will be open Wednesday mornings (8 a.m. to noon) through Nov. 25.
Household Hazardous Waste Collection: Saturday, Oct. 10, 8 a.m.–1 p.m. at the Simsbury DPW facility, 66 Town Forest Road. A list of accepted items is available on the Town of Granby website. Document shredding will be available 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. or until the truck is full. There is a two-box limit per resident. For information, call the Granby DPW at 860-844-5241.
Extra Trash bags are available at Granby Public Works, 52 North Granby Road from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the Transfer Station during hours of operation and Beman Hardware. Trash bags should not be used for bulky items, electronics or recycling.
Cylinder collection: As part of the Connecticut Cylinder program, Granby residents can recycle residential gas canisters for free at the transfer station. The program focuses on the free collection, transport and recycling of various residential gas cylinders, including those used for camping, grilling, DIY projects, portable helium tanks and hand-held torches.
Road improvements are an essential part of the responsibilities at Public Works. The process includes many steps which take time to complete. The PW Department thanks everyone who traveled through the locations being worked on this summer for their patience.
Signs: Generally, no private signs are permitted on town property. Before placing a sign on the town green, please contact the town manager’s office for approval. Signs should only be placed on the roadside with permission of the property owner. Signs should never be placed on traffic islands.
Yard waste is not allowed in your trash or recycling barrels—yard waste has been banned from curbside barrels since 1998. Grass, leaves and brush should be composted on-site or brought to the Granby Transfer Station.
