The Next Chapter: Granby Public Library building project community forums
The Granby Public Library’s Capital Campaign Cabinet will host multiple town-hall-style forums and informal Q & A’s in October and November to share information about the Next Chapter Campaign—an effort to raise $1.5 million toward a library renovation and expansion. The forums are an opportunity for residents to learn all about the possible library renovation and expansion. This is a significant public investment, and the forum is designed to give community members the information they need to make an informed decision at the ballot box. The forums include Coffee With The Cabinet, Monday, Oct. 12, 10–11 a.m.; and Town Hall Community Forum, Saturday, Oct. 24.
Friends’ silhouette fundraiser
Capture a profile for a timeless work of art. Deborah O’Connor has spent 50 years creating heirloom-quality silhouette portraits, crafting each profile entirely freehand in just minutes. These charming portraits make wonderful keepsakes. Sign up for a time slot on the library’s calendar. During your session, O’Connor will create your child’s portrait while you watch this unique art form come to life. Cost is $30 per silhouette, and 25 percent of every silhouette purchase comes back to the Friends of the Granby Public Libraries. Create a special keepsake while supporting your library.
Collecting Kids and Teen Book Donations
The Friends of the Granby Public Libraries will be collecting gently used children’s and teen books (published in the last 10 years, no rips or stains, books only) for the upcoming pop-up used book sale at the Granby Children’s Book Fest. Please bring to the Granby Public Library during regular business hours.
Upcoming Free Book Festival
4th Annual Granby Children’s Book Festival: Saturday, Nov. 7, 10 a.m.–1 p.m. at Granby Memorial Middle School. All ages. Join in a joyful celebration of stories, imagination and creativity at the Granby Children’s Book Festival! This fun-filled event brings together authors, illustrators, and young readers for a day dedicated to the magic of books. Whether your child is just discovering picture books or diving into chapter books, the festival offers something for everyone.
