Bloom Where Planted, Summer Flowers: Monday, June 1, 10 a.m. Explore the world of cut flower gardens, learn some easy to grow flowers you could add to your garden to use for flower arrangements and learn tips on arranging fresh flowers to create your own summer bouquet. Cost: $10.
Health and Balance, Caring for Your Nervous System: Tuesday, June 2, 10 a.m. Join Dr. Isaac Boedigheimer from Life Family Chiropractic of Avon for his presentation exploring chiropractic care and the wide range of benefits it can offer, including for older adults. He will outline what chiropractic is and examine its relationship with the spine and nervous system. He will discuss the importance of maintaining a well-balanced nervous system and how spinal misalignments may contribute to common age-related concerns such as reduced balance, limited mobility, changes in posture, and decreased coordination. Finally, he will highlight how gentle, precise chiropractic adjustments can support seniors by addressing these challenges and promoting overall function, stability and quality of life. Free.
Paint with Nina, Flower Vase: Friday, June 5, 10 a.m. Step by step, learn to paint a 11 x 14 canvas—no art experience required. All supplies included. Cost $10.
A Legacy of Juneteenth: Friday, June 19, 10 a.m. Juneteenth, recognized as America’s youngest Federal Holiday, celebrates freedom for all while commemorating the end of slavery in the Confederate states. One of the enduring legacies of Juneteenth is the remarkable number of important inventions created by Black men and women. Many of the innovations discussed in this 50-minute presentation have profoundly impacted our world, yet their inventors remain largely unrecognized. Join John Cilio as he emphasizes the immeasurable value of Juneteenth and how its freedoms advanced American society. You may be surprised by the inspiring stories of incredible individuals whose inventions have truly transformed the world we inhabit. Free.

Dine & Drive, Crepes Tea House in Southwick: Wednesday, June 10, depart at 10:30 a.m. Cost: $5.
Shopping, Bass Pro Shop: Thursday, June 4, depart at 9 a.m. Cost: $5.
Old Drake Hill Flower Bridge: Monday, June 22 (Rain date June 23). Old Drake Hill Flower Bridge is an amazing 1892 metal truss flower bridge in Simsbury spanning the Farmington River. The Flower Bridge committee will do a 20-minute interactive presentation on the history and transformation of this one lane car bridge into a pedestrian only flower bridge. After a tour, there will be time for an outdoor box lunch from Fitzgerald’s Foods. Boxed lunches will be delivered to Hop Brook Landing Park where you may sit in the shade of the new pavilion beside the Farmington River. Box lunches include a sandwich or wrap of choice (turkey, ham, tuna or veggie (with or without cheese), water, potato chips, condiments and a chocolate chip cookie. Gluten-free options available. Cost: $15, specify meal choice when registering.
Ongoing Programs
Lunch Program: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12–1 p.m. The lunch program offers a healthy, low-cost lunch for seniors prepared and cooked at the center. This is a great opportunity to get out and meet new people. Monthly menus are available at the Senior Center. Reservations are required, and accepted until noon Friday for the following week by calling 860-844-5352. Cost: $5.
Walking Group: Friday, June 5, 10 a.m. Free.
COA Coffee Hour: Wednesday, June 10, 10 a.m. Meet some of the members of the Commission on Aging, share ideas, chat with other members of the community or simply enjoy a cup of coffee. Free.
Exercise Programs
Mondays: Gentle Movement at 11:15 a.m. and Total Body Tone at 12:45 p.m.
Tuesdays: Chair Yoga at 2:30 p.m. and Yoga at 4 p.m.
Wednesdays: Tai Chi at 9:30 a.m. and Line Dancing at 1:30 p.m.
Thursdays: Everybody’s Exercise at 1:30 p.m. and All About Balance at 2:45 p.m.
Fridays: Fencing at 11 a.m.
