Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Litchfield County is seeking volunteers to support its growing Hospice Program. Volunteers provide care to patients in towns throughout Litchfield County and the Farmington Valley, including Granby, East Granby and East Hartland.
What do hospice volunteers do? Be there to hold a hand, and listen; take a patient to their favorite place or park; read to a patient, or help them write a letter; assist with errands, such as walking a dog or grocery shopping; provide respite for family.
Training is provided and can be customized to fit individual schedules. Volunteers can select the specific towns in which they would like to serve.
The Hospice Team is dedicated to delivering high-quality patient- and family-centered care. Volunteering with hospice isn’t just about giving—it’s about forming fulfilling, meaningful connections.
If you are interested in contributing your energy, compassion, and time by working directly with hospice patients and their families, please contact Karen Giarnese, RN, BSN, hospice and bereavement coordinator, at 860-379-8561 or kgiarnese@vnhlc.org
