Cayden Mele, a sophomore at Granby Memorial High School, earned a spot in the prestigious Junior Gold National Championship Bowling Tournament in Indianapolis in July 2027.
On Sept. 27, he bowled in the Connecticut River Travel Tournament at Callahan’s Bowling alley in Newington. Cayden bowled well, including a 225 game to start his four-game set, on a very difficult oil pattern to earn a spot in the national championships.
This past July, he was one of 60 youth bowlers who represented the state of Connecticut at the Junior Gold National Championships held in Minneapolis. Cayden will again represent Connecticut in the U16 boys’ division in the summer of 2027 in Indianapolis. Cayden currently bowls in the REVS Youth Bowling League at Sparetime Vernon, in Vernon, as well as plays basketball and tennis for Granby Memorial High School.
