District 23B Lions Clubs again offers all students in Hartford and Litchfield Counties in Grades 9-12 the opportunity to compete in the Student Speaking Contest. Students attending public, private or charter schools, being homeschooled, members of Leo Clubs or other youth groups are eligible.
This year marks the third year of competition. Lions Clubs will be contacting local schools and youth organizations to present the program and offer this opportunity to compete for cash prizes at the local and district levels.
This year’s topic is “What responsibility do young people have in shaping the future?” Students are asked to compose their speech on the assigned topic and deliver their presentation to a panel of judges. The deadline for submitting an application is Nov. 2.
