At its May 18 meeting, the Granby Board of Selectmen honored retiring Collector of Revenue Lauren Stuck for her 30 years of “unmatched dedication and professionalism.” Her career in Granby began in May, 1996.
She attained the status of Certified Connecticut Municipal Collector in 1998, and over time rose to a number of leadership positions including president of the Hartford County Tax Collectors Association. She was also a member of the Connecticut Tax Collectors Association and the Northeast Regional Tax Collectors and Treasurers Association.
In order to more fully understand the interrelationship of her job with other government departments, she attended the University of Connecticut Department of Public Policy Assessors School. Her classes included assessment administration, assessment valuation and appraisal principles.
In addition to her regular duties as tax collector, Stuck was the recording secretary for the building committees of the high school, Wells Road School and Kelly Lane School. Other groups for which she performed this duty were the Agricultural Committee and the Municipal Employees Association. In addition, she was chairman of the Municipal Employees Association Scholarship Committee.
Stuck’s final act for Granby was to hire, train and mentor her successor, Kendra Gilbert. The town, with heart felt gratitude for her exemplary service and lasting contributions, wishes her a fulfilling and well-earned retirement.
