New library catalog and app starting June 3

The library will launch a new catalog and mobile app on June 3, offering patrons a more modern and user-friendly way to search for materials, manage their accounts and discover new items. The upgraded system includes improved search features, personalized recommendations and easy access to holds, renewals and account information—all designed to enhance the overall library experience.

Library staff are preparing for the transition and will be available to help patrons with any questions, including downloading and using the new app. From May 26 through June 3, there will be brief service interruptions while we complete the changeover. During this time, services will be limited—patrons can still borrow and return items as usual, but materials from other libraries will not be available. The library is committed to making the process as smooth as possible and encourages patrons to stop in for updates and assistance.

During this time patrons must have their library card to checkout items. We will not be able to use another form of ID. A picture of your library card will work. Thank you for your understanding.

Summer Reading—sign up starting June 15

The Summer Reading Program invites readers of all ages to Plant a Seed and watch their love of reading grow. This year’s theme celebrates growth, creativity, and new beginnings—whether you’re planting ideas, friendships or knowledge.

Participants read throughout the summer to earn entries towards raffle prizes while enjoying special programs, hands-on activities and community events. From storytimes and performers to workshops, lectures and family programs, there’s sure to be something for everyone.

Granby Public Library receives national grant for small and rural libraries

Granby Public Library is committed to serving every member of our community, and we’re proud to announce that we’ve been awarded a national grant to help us do just that. Through the Libraries Transforming Communities initiative—part of the American Library Association’s Accessible Small and Rural Communities program—the library has received a competitive $20,000 grant. This funding will support efforts to improve the accessibility of our facilities, services and programs, with a focus on better serving individuals with neurodiverse abilities. We invite you to be part of this exciting work. Join us for a community conversation on Thursday, June 4 at 6:30 p.m. to share your ideas and help shape how this grant can best enhance our library for everyone.

Seed Library

The public is invited to pick up complimentary packets of vegetable, fruit, flower and herb seeds at F. H. Cossitt Library Branch, North Granby. The seed library is stocked with a wide variety of seeds compliments of The Friends of the Granby Public Libraries and the University of Connecticut Extension Service. There are also numerous gardening resources available to borrow from the library. Let’s get growing!
