The Animal Control Officer for the towns of Granby, Barkhamsted and Hartland, joined by Town of Granby staff, will host a Rabies Vaccination Clinic and Animal Shelter Open House on Saturday, May 9, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Animal Shelter, 166 Salmon Brook Street. Open to Granby residents and surrounding towns, the event will be held rain or shine and refreshments will be offered. Residents will have an opportunity to meet ACO Jennifer Abalan, as well as the Granby police captain, town manager and town clerk staff.
The state requires all cats and dogs to be vaccinated for rabies. Rabies vaccinations will be $20 per animal, cash only. Pet owners who bring proof of a prior rabies vaccination may qualify for a three-year rabies vaccine.
Applications for 2026 dog licenses for Granby residents will be available. Exact cash or checks will be accepted. Applicants must have a current rabies vaccination on file with the Town Clerk’s office or provide a rabies certificate at the time of application.
