From Read Across America to Read Across Granby

In celebration of Read Across America Week, members of the National English Honor Society from Granby Memorial High School paid a special visit to Kelly Lane Primary and Wells Road Intermediate schools, spending time reading with elementary students and sharing their love for reading.

This annual event promotes reading and literacy nationwide and provides a meaningful opportunity for high school students to return to the elementary classrooms they once sat in—sharing stories, answering questions and inspiring a love of reading.

For the high school students, the visit was a chance to reflect on how far they have come and to serve as a role model for younger students. For the elementary students, it was an exciting opportunity to connect with older peers who demonstrate that a love of reading can grow throughout their entire school career.

Teachers and staff at both schools praised the initiative as a wonderful way to build community across grade levels while reinforcing the importance of literacy. By sharing stories, the students helped inspire the next generation of readers.
