Support Great Global Cleanup® on Earth Day weekend
In what has become a Granby tradition, the Granby Land Trust will take part in the Great Global Cleanup® on Earth Day weekend, April 23–26. This worldwide campaign removes billions of pieces of trash from neighborhoods, beaches, rivers, lakes, trails and parks—reducing waste and plastic pollution, improving habitats and preventing harm to wildlife and humans.
Here in Granby, we are asking residents to help clean up our roadsides. In past years, we have collected more than a ton and a half of garbage. Choose any neighborhood you like—just email us at info@granbylandtrust.org so we can avoid overlap and track our reach.
How it works
1) Rally your family, friends, neighbors or community group.
2) Email us at info@granbylandtrust.org to let us know where you plan to work.
3) Dress in bright clothing, grab trash bags, gloves and a grabber if you have one. Separate clean recyclables from trash (dirty recyclables can go in with trash). Take before-and-after photos—and please stay safe!
4) Snap photos of your crew and your collected bags.
5) Bring filled trash bags to the dumpster located in the overflow lot at the North Campus of Granby Congregational Church, at 219 North Granby Road. This is a new drop-off location—the old commuter lot, situated on the corner of North Granby Road and North Church Road. Our dumpster will be marked with a GLT banner.
6) Email us your photos so we can inspire others. We’ll share them on social media, our website and in our newsletter so please identify participants when submitting. If posting yourself, tag @granbylandtrust and @earthday and use #granbylandtrust and #trashtag
A fun “thank you”
After a day of doing good, head over to Lost Acres Vineyard. Show a photo of yourself with the trash you collected (a selfie works) at the tasting counter and receive a free glass of wine and 10 percent off of bottles! Offer valid Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 24, 25 and 26.
The Granby Land Trust thanks Lost Acres Vineyard for generously supporting our Earth Day Roadside Cleanup. What better way to celebrate caring for the planet than gathering with friends and neighbors to make a visible difference right here at home?
Coffee and Cocoa at the Cabin
On Saturday, March 28 at 8 a.m., join the Granby Land Trust for a guided walk on the Dismal Brook Wildlife Preserve. Travel along the newly renovated trail near the North Marsh, then loop around to Glazier Cabin overlooking Creamer Pond for coffee, cocoa and conversation.

The terrain is variable, with some steep sections, and the walk will last approximately one hour. Afterward, the cabin will be open and stocked with hot coffee, cocoa and light breakfast treats—the perfect way to warm up and connect with friends.
We will meet by 8 a.m. at the Dismal Brook Wildlife Preserve parking lot off of Loomis Street in North Granby. Please register for this event by email at: info@GranbyLandTrust.org
Volunteers needed!
Maintaining large properties is a big job, and the Granby Land Trust relies on volunteers to help make it happen. We have two Preserve Our Properties Days scheduled this spring and we’d love your help!
Sunday, April 12, 12–2 p.m. Join us for a volunteer work party at the Dismal Brook Wildlife Preserve, meeting at the trailhead on Loomis Street in North Granby. Then spend the morning tackling important trail and property maintenance projects.
Sunday, May 31, 12–2 p.m. Lend a hand at the Mary Edwards Mountain Property, where we’ll focus on stewardship projects to help keep this special landscape accessible and well cared for. Please wear long-sleeved shirts and sturdy gloves and bring shovels, rakes, loppers, clippers and weed whackers.
If you’re able to volunteer either or both days, please email info@granbylandtrust.org to let us know you’re coming. This helps us plan for the day.
We hope you’ll join us—many hands make light work, and it’s a rewarding way to spend time outdoors while supporting the work of the Granby Land Trust!
