Fall is in full swing here in Granby, and it’s time to adjust for the cold weather and plan for leaf cleanup. The chill in the early morning air slides away as the sun comes out, and there’s lots to see and do around town. Fall brings more program offerings, completed projects from public works, and updates from the building department. Read on for news and upcoming events from various departments at Granby Town Hall.

The town clerk’s office has been busy preparing for the 2025 municipal election. After fourteen days of early voting at Granby Town Hall, the last day to vote in the municipal election is on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 4. Election day voting will take place at Granby Memorial High School, in the community gym, from 6 a.m.–8 p.m. For more information about elections, or to see the sample ballot, please visit the Granby Registrar of Voters page at www.granby-ct.gov/274/Registrars-of-Voters

By town charter, Granby must reevaluate the Plan of Conservation and Development every ten years (for more detailed information, see page 1 of the printed edition). The Plan of Conservation and Development 2026 Committee met for the first time on Sept. 23. They will be meeting on every 4th Tuesday of every month and will also be planning a public workshop in the near future. The information will be shared on the Town’s website and Facebook, so stay tuned.

The Granby Center Advisory Committee is wrapping up work on the Granby Center plan and there will be a final presentation on Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. in the Granby Senior Center Community Room. Keep an eye on the Town’s website and Facebook for more details.

At the end of September, GPD’s Chief Scott Sansom was honored by the Police Commissioners Association of Connecticut with the prestigious “Distinguished Chief Award.” This recognition highlights Chief Sansom’s outstanding leadership, dedication to public safety, and unwavering commitment to the Granby community. We are grateful for his vision and service that continue to guide our department forward. Please join us in congratulating Chief Sansom on this well-deserved honor!

Registration is open for Granby Youth Basketball for kindergarten through eighth grade. Practices begin in December and games will begin in January. The hope of this program is to establish a foundation of basics for future support of our high school basketball programs and to create an opportunity for children to be with and make new friends.
