On Sunday, May 22, at 3:30 p.m., the Windy Hill Guitar Ensemble will present Limerick Lane, a concert of traditional folk music from Ireland and Scotland arranged for classical guitar, interspersed with limericks and jigs composed by the students.

We have had fun writing limericks this spring, including these two by students from the Wells Road School. Come to the concert to hear the rest!

I went to the fair with my goat.

I wanted to buy her a coat.

She got on the train,

But it started to rain,

So she ended up buying a boat.

I went to the store with my dog.

In the window we saw a big frog.

We opened the door

And slipped on the floor

On banana peels left by the hog.

Evelyn Danke, a junior at GMHS, and Stefan Kachala, a fifth-grader at The Master’s School, have written their own jigs, in addition to more limericks. Even the parents and grandparents of the students have joined in on the fun.

The May 22 concert will be held at South Congregational Church, 242 Salmon Brook Street. Although the concert is free, donations to South Church are welcome. Masking and social distancing will be required. For more information call Laura Mazza-Dixon, director of the Windy Hill Guitar Studio, at 860-653-6146.
