Support for Emery

We are writing in support of Jenny Emery’s candidacy for election to Granby’s Board of Finance. After a very successful, 40-year career in risk management and finance, in which she worked with thousands of towns and schools across the country, Jenny has chosen to invest her considerable energy, intelligence, and enthusiasm into the town she loves. Already, Granby is the better for it. One need only look at her volunteer work around town.

In her 10 years as a member of Granby’s Board of Education, Jenny has worked to maintain the quality of our schools while finding cost-saving measures, keeping fat out of the budget and even finding new revenue sources for the school system. She has been an open, thoughtful and hard-working member of the board.

For many years Jenny served on the board of directors of the Friends of Holcomb Farm, and now serves as its volunteer executive director. We have seen, day-to-day, how strategic she is in this role; and how much she cares about the future of this Town-owned farm and the important role it plays in our town.

Jenny also serves as a volunteer Property Steward for the Granby Land Trust. This, too, she approaches with diligence and dedication; and we have seen firsthand—again and again—her love of Granby and its natural places. Recently, she and her husband Dave were the recipients of the Land Trust’s highest honor, the Mary Edwards “Friend of the Land Trust” Award.

As anyone who knows her will tell you, Jenny digs into her commitments with integrity, passion, dedication and thoughtfulness, seeking to make life in Granby better for all. She is smart, organized and committed. She gets behind what she believes in. The people of this town would be very fortunate to have a candidate of Jenny’s caliber serve on the Board of Finance.

We will be voting for her on Nov. 2. We hope you will, too.
