Support for Nolan and Thrall

I write this letter in support of Donna Nolan and Sarah Thrall for the Board of Education. Sarah Thrall currently serves as Chairman and has navigated the Granby Public Schools through one of the most challenging times in history—keeping our schools open for in-person learning during COVID-19. Sarah’s experience and dedication to the board as a working mom of five means she shows up at every subcommittee meeting, board meeting, graduation, open house, convocation, PAC, SEPTO and PTO meetings and spends countless hours in service to the education of our students. Sarah’s board experience and dedication speaks for itself.

Donna Nolan is a newcomer to local elections, but not to public service to our Granby students and school district. Donna is an environmental lawyer by training, and if you have students in our schools, you most certainly know Donna! Her tireless volunteerism and “let’s get this done” attitude will serve the Granby Public Schools well. Donna has worked as a substitute teacher in the district and has dedicated her time and talents as a coach for Granby Rovers soccer, St. Mary’s soccer, youth lacrosse and football. She has volunteered with the Granby Booster Club and for track meets. She serves as a board member for Granby High School Football Supporters and as a lector at St. Mary’s Church. She and her husband Terry cook and deliver meals for The Mercy Shelter. Terry and Donna have three children who attended or are attending Granby Memorial High School.

As an illustration of Donna’s commitment to service on the BOE, Donna was the only candidate to attend the board retreat on Aug. 25 at the Senior Center. The board retreat is a critical public planning session to determine board priorities for the school year, as well as shape and refine the Vision of a Graduate. Donna is committed and ready to serve the Granby Public Schools as a member of the Board of Education.

Service on the Granby Board of Education is a 200+ hour annual commitment.  I support Sarah and Donna in their willingness to serve on the Granby BOE. Their track record of volunteerism, service, and community engagement speaks volumes, Granby would be lucky to have them both serve as members.
