We are very thankful to the Granby Community Fund and the residents of Granby for their support of the McLean Meals on Wheels program. The Granby Community Fund solicits donations from Granby residents to then give as grants to local non-profits that serve residents of the Town of Granby.

During the past 14 months, many non-profit organizations have been unable to fundraise and many grants were either not available or greatly reduced. Thank you to the Granby Community Fund members who communicated with the non-profits, met virtually throughout the pandemic, and continued to recognize the difficulties imposed on organizations and residents.

The Granby Community Fund notified all of its member organizations this week that they were able to award grants to all of their member agencies while acknowledging that donations were down this past year. Most of the grants were nearly at the same level as in 2020. These grants were sorely needed inasmuch as many of the organizations help those who were impacted the most by the pandemic.

At McLean, the Meals on Wheels program has continued to take new clients during the pandemic and has been increasing weekday deliveries in all the towns served. The need during the pandemic has been greater since visiting was discouraged and arrangements made in the past with family and neighbors were no longer practical. Many elderly and medically compromised people were unable to enter the grocery store, but still needed low cost, healthy meals. We are immensely thankful to the Granby Community Fund and their consideration of our Meals on Wheels grant request each year.
