For over 30 years, Granby resident Robert Carter has delivered exterior and interior painting services to the residents of Granby and surrounding areas. His business is known as Robert Carter Painting.
Carter’s slogan is “Quality Comes First” and he is a craftsman of his trade, taking priding in details and performing most of the work himself to his and the customers’ standards. Not only does Carter work during the summers; he works year-round doing indoor projects. He takes time with customers to evaluate their ideas so that he can deliver the best results possible. Carter grew up in Bloomfield, and in 1988 he moved to Granby where he has been ever since.
In the 1980s, Carter was working for a contractor, when he decided to work for himself rather than for somebody else.
Carter’s favorite parts about running his own business are meeting new people and having a flexible schedule. “I am blessed to have many wonderful customers,” said Carter before the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
During the pandemic, Carter has mostly done exterior projects. The Construction Allowance allowed him to keep working by painting the exterior of people’s houses.

Before Carter begins a project, he writes a proposal on exactly what he is going to do to be sure the project is done exactly the way the customer wants it done.
