Ed Johnetta Miller, fiber artist, quilter, teacher, curator and lecturer will bring her vibrant quilts to the March 18 meeting of the Farmington Valley Quilters. Her improvisational quilts can be found in The National Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.; Nelson Mandela’s National Museum in Cape Town, South Africa; the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford; and the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum in Golden, Colo.
Among other awards, Miller has received the Governor’s Art Award, the State of Connecticut’s most prestigious artistic award; the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Arts’ first President’s Award; and the Capital Community College Heritage Award. She has been featured on HGTV’s Modern Masters series and its Simply Quilts series.
The meeting is Wednesday, March 18, 7 p.m. in Eno Memorial Hall, 754 Hopmeadow St, Simsbury. Sign-in begins at 6:45 p.m. Guests are welcome for a guest fee of $10.
