Salmon Brook Veterinary Hospital’s Dr. Weber and two office techs collect food.

Salmon Brook Veterinary Hospital’s seventh annual pet food drive was a huge success. Thanks to community generosity, it collected 2,859.7 lbs. of dry cat and dog food along with 2,323 cans. Salmon Brook is matching your donations pound-for-pound, bringing the grand total up to 5,719.4 lbs. of dog and cat food. The food Salmon Brook collected was divided up and distributed to Mary’s Kitty Korner, Southwick Food Bank, Granby Food Bank, and Kane’s Krusade. They will use the match to keep the local food banks, shelters and pet organizations stocked with food throughout the year. The match from Salmon Brook will be delivered in the spring and fall to the same organizations. SBVH also collected $2,467.85 that was donated to America’s Vet Dogs to help care for and train service dogs for veterans and first responders.

Salmon Brook Veterinary Hospital would like to especially thank Stop & Shop and Horses & Hounds for being drop off points throughout the food drive. They could not have collected all the pet food they did without them. A huge thank you to Starbucks in Bloomfield for spending the day at Salmon Brook and bringing coffee and pupachinos for everyone. Thank you to Purina and Hills for their donations to the food drive. It is great that the community can come together and support one another.
