Sylvia Davis-Patricelli

Sylvia Davis-Patricelli was a prodigious, interpretive fine arts painter whose life was dedicated not only to her family, but also to capturing an historic pictorial collection on canvas that spanned her entire creative life (1934-2004). As a dedication to her career, a nonprofit foundation has been established that provides higher education scholarships for graduating high school students in Connecticut pursuing a vocation in the arts/related field.

Patricelli family members were venerable citizens of Granby in the mid-1940s and Sylvia painted many historic scenes in the town including the Old Mill Shops, historic homes/property, charcoal drawings of local established farmers and a commissioned portrait of Judge Case. Her daughter Susan, having grown up in West Hartford, and her family now living in Granby are pleased to have established this 501c3 nonprofit foundation in memory of her mother’s career accomplishments. See Mrs. Patricelli’s website, sylviadavisart.org

For the third consecutive year, an award will be provided to the winner of the Sylvia Davis Patricelli Fine Arts Scholarship based on three finalists who have met the entrant parameters and will be a 2020 Granby Memorial High School graduate pursuing a secondary education majoring in a fine arts program.

In keeping with Sylvia’s generous, unassuming spirit, these scholarships are being offered to inspire the youth of our current generation to engender the creative spirit that enriches the cultural quality of life.
