Join the Granby Land Trust for a Cold Moon Hike

Did you know the December full moon is called the “Cold Moon?” This year’s Cold Moon will occur on Saturday, Dec. 22. Make it a part of your holiday celebration by joining old friends and new with a family-friendly, moderately strenuous hike to the top of Crag Mountain in North Granby. Once at the summit, watch the full moon rise, then descend to Emery Farm for refreshments and holiday cheer.

Meet at Emery Farm, 70 Loomis Street, at 3:30 p.m. sharp. You will leave your car there and be shuttled to the GLT’s Seth and Lucy Holcombe Preserve on Silver Street. Hike leaders Dave and Jenny Emery will lead the hike, from the Holcombe Preserve to the top of Crag Mountain for a 4:37 p.m. moonrise, then down the other side of the mountain to Emery Farm, where your car is parked.

The Emerys are very good friends to the Land Trust. Dave is a GLT board member and Jenny is the property steward of the Seth and Lucy Holcombe Preserve. In addition, a portion of Emery Farm is preserved forever through a GLT conservation easement.

Please leave your pooch at home, and bring a headlamp if you have one. Registrations are required, via email, to dwemery79@gmail.com.
