Local artist Bill Simpson won second place with his charcoal drawing “Kiev” in the CT + 6 art show at the West Hartford Art League. He was invited to discuss his work at the gallery on May 6. His drawing will remain on view until May 30. The Clubhouse Gallery is located at 37 Buena Vista Road in West Hartford.
Bryant University named the following students to its fall 2017 dean’s list: Lindsay Brodeur, Gerald McDonald, Kristen Perry, Abigail Sannizzaro, Lauren Sannizzaro, Alexandra Spica and Danielle Sturgeon.
Sarah Wutka, a member of NEWMAC Women’s Rowing Boat of the Week and WPI women’s rowing varsity eight, earned accolades for her performance in the Bernard Brown Cup.
Eastern Connecticut State University students were honored at the annual Service Expo and Awards, sponsored by Eastern’s Center for Community Engagement. The expo showcased more than 30 student-led community service projects, followed by an award ceremony. Carly Perron, class of ‘18 and a history and social science major, presented on her projects with the Sweeney Elementary School After School Program and Covenant Soup Kitchen. Perron was also one of two recipients for the Outstanding Student Leader Award. Joseph Hacia class of ‘21 and a health sciences major, presented on his project with the Boy’s Circle at Natchaug Elementary.
