Granby Land Trust spring hikes – join us! Spring Bird Walks

Print More
Join us for a Granby Land Trust tradition: our Spring Bird Walks, led by Land Trust members John Weeks and Christine Chinni. These walks—to be held on the mornings of May 13 and 14, from 7 to 9 a.m—will take place on Jamie Gamble’s beautiful North Granby property located at 253 Loomis Street in North Granby. The birds are very active at this time of year, as they return from a winter away, and the Gamble property provides an ideal place in which to view them. Recent walks have featured sightings of more than 50 bird species!
Space is limited, so reserve your spot today by calling John Weeks, 860.844.8965; or by email at aerie.john@cox.net. Participants should bring binoculars and be ready to start promptly at 7 a.m.
Conn. Trails Day, Sunday, June 4
You are invited to participate in the statewide event, Connecticut Trails Day, with a beautiful, family-friendly hike – complete with waterfalls – right here in your backyard. Co-hosted by the Granby Land Trust and the Friends of Holcomb Farm, this hike will showcase properties preserved by Holcomb Farm, the Granby Land Trust, and the McLean Game Refuge—all in one hike. We will start at Holcomb Farm (113 Simsbury Road) at 10 a.m. and will climb the Farm’s western hills to Broad Hill Road, then connect with the Granby Land Trust Petersen Preserve and continue up Broad Hill Road to the McLean Game Refuge and the Carpenter Falls, finally returning back down hill to Holcomb Farm. This is a family-friendly hike and pace, with a 200-foot elevation gain. Well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome.
