The Granby Food Bank Program would like to thank all of the donors who make a significant difference in its ability to offer food assistance to qualified Granby residents.
In addition to a number of individual and business donations, the program is extremely grateful to the Granby Youth Lacrosse team members for giving back to the community with a $500 contribution to the Granby Food Bank, and to the sixth grade students at The Bear Paw Store at Kelly Lane School who chose to donate $450 of the profit from their student-run store. Granby Memorial High School’s National Honor Society’s annual Empty Bowls fundraiser yielded an incredible $1,944.60 for the Food Bank. Most recently, Super Stop & Shop Store Manager Christine Willett presented Nancy Scheetz, executive director of the Farmington Valley VNA, with a $1306.83 check.
During the Fiscal Year that ended on June 30, the Granby Food Bank program received 1,386 visits and distributed 2,389 bags of food. When donations of non-perishable foods, household cleaning products, personal care items, and pet food run low, monetary donations are utilized to restock the shelves to ensure that program participants have access to essential nutrition.
