Holiday Lighting
Join your friends and neighbors on Thursday, Dec. 3, 6:30 p.m. for the annual Holiday Tree Lighting Event at SBP. The Holiday Choirs from Kelly Lane and Wells Road will lead everyone in song, there will be a visit from the ‘ole Saint Nick and hot chocolate and cookies will be served. There will be a collection for the Granby Food Pantry as well as the Granby Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Toy Drive if you would like to participate.
Holiday Cookie Decorating Class
Learn how to beautifully decorate holiday-themed cookies. Decorate both gingerbread and sugar cookies that are shaped like Christmas trees, angels, ornaments, Christmas lights, mittens, candy canes, gingerbread houses, snow globes, snowmen, snowflakes, gingerbread men/women, Santa hats, holly, etc. Fee includes decorating instruction, cookies, icing and decorating candies/sprinkles. All participants will take home their drying cookies in a bakery box. For ages 6 and up. Friday, Dec. 4, 4:30 – 6 p.m. at SBP Rec Building. $27pp.
UConn Women’s Basketball Vs. St. John’s at Madison Square Garden
Travel to New York City to cheer on defending national champion UConn Huskies as they take on the Maryland Terrapins in the Maggie Dixon Classic at the World’s Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden. Our seats are located in Section 117 in the lower bowl at Center Court, rows 16-20. We will leave the Granby Town Hall Parking lot at 12:45 p.m. arriving in NYC about 3 p.m. You can choose to sightsee, shop, or dine until the UConn game begins at 8:30 p.m. We plan to leave NYC right after the game. Music Time with Miss Carrie
Children ages 6 months to 4 years, with caregivers, will enjoy learning basic melody, finger play, rhythm skills, dancing and music and movement in this entertaining atmosphere. Come join Carrie Johnson and start your toddler’s day with singing, dancing, laughter and especially fun. Thursdays, Jan. 7 to Feb. 18, 10 – 11 a.m. at Salmon Brook Park. $125pp.
After School Gifted and Talented Enrichment Program
For students in grades 3 to 6 who would like to have fun developing their thinking skills and creativity. Students will engage in a variety of activities that will enhance their abilities and build confidence in trying new things. Taught by Patti Cornell, a Granby resident with many years of experience teaching gifted/talented programs in public schools and home school settings. Thursdays, Jan. 7 to Feb. 25 at Wells Road School, or Fridays, Jan. 8 to Feb. 26 at Kelly Lane School. 3:15 to 4:30 p.m., $100pp.
Kearns School–Just For Fun Art-ventures
Just for Fun Art-ventures lead children in grades K–2 on an imaginary tour through the world’s greatest art museums, inspiring creativity through exposure to the FUN-damentals of artist’s tools, techniques and art forms, many inspired by the masters. Think O’Keefe, Kandinsky, Matisse, Chagall, Picasso and more. But don’t just admire these great works—decorate your home with masterpieces of your own! Experience painting on stretched canvas, playing with clay and painting ceramics. Design mosaic art, paint a wacky world of watercolor dreams, and create a beautiful landscape while discovering the art of fiber collage. Explore decoupage, abstract drawing, and more! Kelly Lane School–Are We There Yet? World Treasures Art-ventures
In this multi‐cultural art exploration program, art travelers in grades 3­–6 discover amazing art secrets hidden all across the globe. Borrowing from Native American art traditions, craft colorful Shrinky Dink sun catchers and sculpt All About Me clay totem poles. Create people pots with feet and funny faces, inspired by ancient pottery found everywhere from Congo to Peru and beyond. Design intricate, eye‐catching Mehndi art gloves in India and bold repujado (metal embossing) masterpieces in Mexico. Make Aboriginal clay masks, and try a special kind of Italian scratch art, called sgraffito. Art‐venturers experience a multitude of materials and techniques, and bring home two‐ and three‐dimensional masterpieces each week as souvenirs from their travels. Fun facts about each country and culture are included. The only thing kids need to pack is their imaginations! Children from other schools are invited but transportation is not provided. ARC Babysitting Course
This class will give youth ages 11–15 the information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care for children in the absence of parent and adult guardians. This training will help participants develop skills in leadership and professionalism; basic care; safety and safe play; and first aid. Feb. 16, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Salmon Brook Park. $100pp.
ARC When I’m in Charge
For boys and girls, 8 and older, who are ever home alone. The course will cover safety concerns parents have when their children are by themselves, such as arriving home, responsibilities, phone and Internet safety, fire and gun safety and many others. Book included in the price of the class and a certificate will be issued upon completion. Parents are welcome to attend. Feb. 16, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Holcomb Farm. $70pp.
Winter Indoor Field Hockey
Indoor Field Hockey Clinics for grades 5 to 8: Basics of passing, receiving, stick skills, shooting, defensive concepts and game strategy will be covered and games will be played to utilize these skills. Instructors will be current Granby HS Coaches and players. Limit 15 players/session. 30 minutes of instruction and 30 minutes of game play. Clinics will be held Mondays, Feb. 8 to March 14 at Wells Road School. Grades 5­–6, 6 – 7 p.m., $105pp. Grades 7–8, 7:15 – 8:30 p.m., $130pp.
Indoor Field Hockey League for grades 9–12: Four teams will be created to play 6v6. Modified indoor rules are played. Each night there will be four 25-minute games, each team is guaranteed two games; maximum 8 players on each team. Tuesdays, Feb. 23–March 15, 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. at GMHS Gym. $55pp.

After School Sport Clubs By All Pro Sports
Children will be introduced to dodge ball, tag games, basketball, soccer, floor hockey, baseball, and more. Children will be taught skills in a cooperative environment that stresses fun over competition and will have a great time learning new skills while making new friends. Zumba® Fitness With Meg
Each Zumba® class is designed to bring people together to sweat it out. We take the work out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. New styles and formats will be added to the fitness schedule this winter so that you can maximize your fitness level by cross training, and can stay excited with your workouts. Classes will typically be hosted in 6-week sessions; one class per week $54, twice per week $96, drop-ins $12 per class.
A special 3-week holiday class session will begin the week of Dec. 14, Mondays and Wednesdays at 7:15 p.m. at SBP. 6-week session begins week of Jan 4.
Combination Safe Boating / Personal Watercraft Course
The 8 hour Safe Boating / Personal Watercraft Class just in time for the upcoming spring/summer boating season. Upon completing this course the participant will have satisfied the DEP’s requirements and will be able to apply for their Certificate of Personal Watercraft Operation (CPWO). The cost to apply is $50 and is not included in this class fee. A Safe Boating Certificate (SBC) will allow an individual over the age of 10 to operate any recreational vessel registered in Connecticut except a personal watercraft (Jet Ski type vessel) on Connecticut’s waters. A CPWO will allow an individual to operate any recreational vessel including a personal watercraft. Any person required to have a SBC or a CPWO must have their certificate on board at all times while operating the vessel. For ages 10 and up. Classes will be held 6– 9 p.m. in the Granby Senior Center on Tuesday, Feb. 16, Wednesday, Feb. 17 and Tuesday, Feb. 23. $25pp.
Yoga For All
Join us at the beautiful Holcomb Farm Workshop for a mixed level yoga class. Stretch, strengthen and restore. Class begins with a gentle warmup, builds to an invigorating flow and ends with deep stretch and peaceful relaxation. Perfect to help gain flexibility, balance, and strength. NYC On Your Own: These days in the city are on your own to enjoy the Big Apple. See Chinatown, Little Italy, Central Park, a museum, the zoo, a Broadway show or shop. The usual drop off points in the City are The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Plaza Hotel, and Rockefeller Center. The pickup time is 7 p.m. in front of Stage Deli, Broadway and 53rd Street.
