If you’ve been by the Village Shops in Granby Center, then you’ve seen that Center Spirit Shop has changed hands. Village Cork and Keg has replaced the long-time package store. Sean Muckle is the manager; his partners are his parents, Paul and Robin Muckle of Barkhamsted. This is their first venture together.
Muckle started in the wine and spirit business at the age of 19 at a large Watertown package store. By the time he was 22, he was managing that store. Muckle learned the business through mentoring and refined his palate at the many wine and beer tasting he attended. This love of the business still fuels his passion, and he loves to share his knowledge with his customers at the Village Cork and Keg.
“My vision is to be the store where customers can come to experience great and new products in beer, wine and spirits.” Muckle is a bubbly, energetic person, and when you start a conversation with him you are impressed by his experience despite his youth. “I want to be the guy that people go to for suggestions and expand their palate no matter the size of their wallet.”
While having product knowledge and great selections is important, Muckle believes that great customer service is an even bigger priority. “We set ourselves apart because we are interested in our customers. Customers are the lifeblood of our business and I am in business to help with what I know best. We are happy to do special orders. We also offer Friday night wine tastings so customers can experience wines from around the world. “
The Muckle family is pleased to be part of such a welcoming town and invites the community to the Grand Opening on Oct. 10.
