Transfer Station Extended Hours: The Transfer Station will be open on Wednesdays 8 a.m. until noon beginning Sept. 9. The extended hours will be in effect through Nov. 18.

Trash Holiday: Monday, Sept. 7, Labor Day is a holiday for Paine’s Inc. and all trash/recycling pickups will be delayed by one day that week.

Hazardous Waste Collection: The next collection of Household Hazardous Waste will be Saturday, Nov. 7, 8 a.m. to noon, at the Simsbury DPW, 66 Town Forest Road, Simsbury.  A list of accepted items is available on the Town of Granby website.

Extra Trash Bags: If at any time you have too much trash for your blue barrel, town-approved extra trash bags are available at the Department of Public Works or the Granby Transfer Station during hours of operation. The bags are $2 each and can be placed next to your barrel on your regularly scheduled trash day.

Books? The Transfer Station has a container where residents of Granby can bring new or gently-used books (hard and soft cover), CDs, DVDs, records and audio books for reuse and recycling. Items that are not accepted in the program are encyclopedias, VHS tapes, newspapers, magazines, moldy books and cassette tapes. However, before recycling books, please sort through them and save the best ones for our Library Used Book Sales. Both Cossitt Library and the Granby Public Library hold book sales for fundraisers and would very much appreciate your support. Please check the library website for schedules.

Service For Bulky Items: Paine’s Inc. provides curbside pickup of bulky household items by appointment only and for a fee. Please call Paine’s at 860-844-3000 for more information.
