After serving for 22 years on Granby’s Board of Selectmen, Ron Desrosiers has submitted his resignation. Not afraid to be the voice of reason and caution, he will be remembered, among other things, for establishing the annual Community Service Awards in 1997. These awards recognize both adult and teen residents who have given special service to the town. Each spring, Desrosiers and representatives from the Drummer and Granby Community Television call for nominations from the public, after which they select winners based on amount of time spent in service and the degree of impact the service has on the community.

Prior to his election to the BOS, Desrosiers served on the Board of Education, the Parks and Recreation Board, the Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission and the committees to study land use, airport noise and capital projects. In addition, he chaired the Democratic Town Committee.

Representing the entire board, First Selectman Scott Kuhnly presented Desrosiers with a plaque and thanked him for his many years of service.
