50th year for plant sale

The Sow and Reap Garden Club has been selling perennials dug from their own gardens for 50 years. What started with 5 or 6 members and about 45 plants divided from members’ gardens, on the front lawn of the church has turned into 20 members and over 600 plants being sold each year. Proceeds benefit several local charities including Waste Not Want Not Kitchen, Holcomb Farm, My Children’s Garden and the Veterans’ Wall of Honor in Salmon Brook Park. This year the club will hold its 50th annual plant sale at South Congregational Church, 242 Salmon Brook St., on May 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring home-grown perennials and a gardeners’ tag sale.
