2015 Holiday Trash Schedule

Please note that Good Friday is not a holiday for Paine’s and therefore there will be no delay of trash service. The next holiday that will delay trash pickup is Monday, May 25, Memorial Day.

Mark Your Calendars

Granby Public Works will be hosting a shred-it day. The paper-shredding event will be held at 52 North Granby Road from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, May 16. Proof of Granby residency is required. Documents are shredded onsite. Please do not bring materials to be shred in plastic bags.

Extra Recycling

If you find that your 95-gallon recycling barrel is not enough to handle all of your recycling, there are two options. Extra recycling can be brought to the transfer station on Saturdays or you can request a second recycling barrel to be used curbside. Both options are free. Call Public Works at 860-653-8960 if you would like a second barrel.

Household Hazardous Waste

Are you looking to dispose of items that are considered hazardous waste? If so, bring them to a town sponsored hazardous waste collection. The town combines with other local towns to conduct two collections per year. Check with DPW 860-653-8960 for upcoming dates. If you cannot make it to the town collection, contact the NEDT Collection Center, Westfield, Mass. They will accept items for a fee. They can be reached at 866-769-1621 or www.nedt.org.

H for H Restore

A Habitat for Humanity ReStore recently opened in Bloomfield. ReStore is a home improvement and donation center that sells new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building material, and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price. The ReStore provides an environmentally and socially responsible way to keep good, reusable materials out of the waste stream. Local retailers, contractors, and individuals can donate items to the ReStore. Please call 860-519-0828 to discuss how to donate, or visit http://hartfordhabitat.org/restore/.
