One-stop Granby volunteer fair is April 15

By Carol Bressor

The Granby Senior Center and the Citizens for a Better Granby/the Granby Drummer will host a volunteer fair at the Senior Center on Wednesday, April 15 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

“Granby is known for its volunteer spirit,” said Lew Noble, chairperson of CBG, “and the fair will provide a one-stop experience to learn how to make a difference in Granby life.” Residents of all ages are invited to the fair. High school students looking to complete community service hours will find several options.

Program coordinator at the senior center and one of the fair’s organizers, Sandy Yost noted, “community organizations representing a wide range of interests (civic, health, education and more) will showcase their volunteers opportunities—be they one-time, weekly, monthly or ongoing projects.” She also pointed out that often such volunteer activities may enable individuals to learn skills that may enhance a job search.

Community organizations wishing to participate in the fair are urged to contact Yost at 860-844-5352 or Carol Bressor at 860-653-3555

This is the third time CBG and the senior center have teamed up to hold such an event.
