Tim and Deb Lenihan receive their award with Cystic Fibrosis Foundation CT Chapter Board President, Bean Corcoran (center)

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) presented its highest accolades to Granby residents Tim and Deb Lenihan at its Annual Volunteer Awards Reception in March. The Lenihans were chosen to receive the Volunteer of the Year Award because of their unwavering dedication to raising funds to help accelerate cystic fibrosis (CF) research. More than 100 volunteers, donors, and sponsors attended the celebratory event at the New Haven Lawn Club to salute them and other volunteer award winners.

Raising funds for the foundation is important to the Lenihans because both of their children, Jason and Amy, have cystic fibrosis. They started Team AJ, a walk team for CFF’s Great Strides event, more than 20 years ago and have raised close to $1 million over the years.

Anyone may start or join a walk team. The Avon Great Strides walk will take place on June 2 at Pine Grove School in Avon. Please consider donating, walking or starting a team. Register at greatstrides.cff.org and choose the Avon site or a site near you.

As the CFF goes full swing into its event season, new volunteers are needed. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the Connecticut Chapter at 860-632-7300 or conn@cff.org.
