Events are picking up at the Granby Senior Center for autumn. If you’re a senior, you’re invited to join classes, wellness events, social events including the monthly breakfasts—one for men and another for women, and lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The Granby Commission on Aging recently began its annual schedule of monthly meetings to examine, support and enhance the town’s support and interaction with Granby’s substantial senior citizen population. There are more than 2,100 seniors above 65 years old in town and that’s over 20 percent of the town’s population. Meetings of the commission include a review of past, current and upcoming trips with Colette Travel, as well as regular local programming and special events.
In addition, the commission manages the durable medical equipment program that makes these items available for loan when you need them. Its subcommittees look at how to manage and improve the well-being of Granby seniors by researching similar town and tax relief programs, housing as well as development in the center of town, which is in close proximity of two existing senior housing sites, one south and one north of the town center.
Comments, compliments for programs or support received or suggestions for improvement can be shared with Commission on Aging Chairwoman Jean Donihee-Perron. Please go to ct-granby.civicplus.com/336/Commission-on-Aging, then select Contact Us
