On Oct. 28, the Lost Acres Fire Department, along with family, friends and representatives from neighboring departments, gathered to recognize the promotion of new department officers. The ceremony recognized the election of Tim Weber as chief of the department and the appointment of the following positions: Erik Davis as assistant chief, Jason Cooke and Bill McHugh as deputy chiefs, Paul Cote and Dan Jacobs as captains, and Kyle Gilmore and Bill Langdon as lieutenants.

In addition to the celebration of the new promotions, there was a special recognition of Captain Sean Yucha and Lieutenant Steve Galuska for their continued service, as well as praise for the incredible work of former Chief John Horr, Jr. and former Deputy Chief Bill George upon their retirement as department officers. Specifically emphasized were the 17 years that John Horr, Jr. served as chief, noting how he improved the department to the point that it is “unrecognizable” from when his tenure began, leaving a lasting impact on the Town of Granby.

First Selectman Mark Fiorentino swore the new and existing officers in, each taking an oath to serve the Town of Granby and protect the lives and property of those within. The Lost Acres Fire Department congratulates the officers promoted, and thanks the residents of Granby for their continued support. Additionally, the LAFD thanks the auxiliary for their support in making this ceremony possible.

The Lost Acres Fire Department is a 100 percent volunteer organization, and would welcome new members to this dedicated crew. Please reach out to membership@lostacresfd.com for more details or an application.
